This came through my work in-box this morning. So presumably this takes the Nomex-for-flying conversation in a whole new direction...!  ;D

Can you imagine ejecting at FL400 wearing those flip-flops?

We had a caption contest at work. The winner?

"Hey, that guy took our boots!"

(Note to Lurkers: this caption makes very little sense until you go look at the picture.)

Reminds me of one of the characters in the book "Air America".  They had a guy who flew for them who was nicknamed "Shower Shoes" because he always wore them, even when he flew.  Though I do not normally wear shower shoes / flip flops outside of home, I do wear leather sandals and even fly with them on occasion.  And no, not in CAP aircraft.

You need to read 39-1.  They are only allowed with flightsuits and the upcoming ABUs.  Geesh!

I was thinking my old Navy Uniforms.  I would look way cool with those on in say, the tropics or even walking around Ho Chi Minh City.  Would almost blend in with the locals.

Never did see tiger stripe flip flops the 3 times I was there between 2008 -10.  I saw a lot of plastic ones.  Also saw some made out of truck tires to show how the Viet Cong made them.

I did see three soldiers getting into an old American Jeep with three M-16's.  All I could say to my wife (and the taxi driver) was, "That is our old stuff."

Is there anything they (Russians or Chinese) don't try to copy?
