What is California Wing Conference like for cadets 18 years and older who are going alone?
Are there any "schedules & cadet chain of command" or is it every man for himself as far as going to seminars, uniform, etc?
Don't take my questions in the wrong way, was just curious as to how it runs - I've heard not many cadets go.
Thanks
You should contact the CAWG DCP or the Conference Committee directly for that information. They will appreciate the input and if they haven't already done so, design topics for the elder cadets. If you're over 18, I would suggest an Intro to Senior Membership for your eventaul transistion to the Big Boy portion oof CAP.
Well, since it's local to you for all intents, you won't lose much just attending the conference portion and seeing what it's all about.
OTOH, it's been like pulling teeth trying to get cadets to go. Because the CP directorate does their own thing .. aka CPC.. Which I will say it's nothing like.
If you're going to the Wing CAC meeting, it might be worth your time. Otherwise you'll probably be bored to tears.
Which is why the "Semi-independant CP section" puts on CPC. We try to do stuff that interests cadets there.
Okay - what typically is the uniform standard? Is it relaxed in the sense that you can wear anything (polo, bdu, A,B,C or flight suit?) since it's more geared for seniors - or is there a set policy generally?
Cadets don't have a whole lot of leeway in what they can wear. Usually the only exception is the black/whites for those who are in training towards their Curry. Most all the Wing conferences I've been to (at last count, 14) the cadets wore their class A uniforms in winter, and class B in summer, with tie. There is no polo shirt/aviator shirt analog to the cadet program that I am aware of. Sometimes the Wing will go so far as to say "appropriate civilian attire" which to me says a suit and tie.
Going off on a tangent here, what with suits, uniforms and events and the like, why is it that I see more and more kids wearing jeans and polo shirts to weddings, church and other dressy occasions? Even some adults choose to wear this attire to these sort of events. Drives me crazy. When I DID go to church, it was always suit and tie, even at the age of 5. *shrug*
Back on topic. Wing Conference is not exactly strict in the sense that there are formations and whatnot, but you will be in the eye of pretty much everyone from the Wing CC on down, maybe even the Region CC/CV, so dress accordingly, by which I mean what I put down in the first paragraph.

Cadets over 18 can wear any of the corporate combinations available to seniors, in fact, if they are out of weight they are required to wear the corporate variants.

*smacks forehead* Why do I never, ever remember that? Oh, because mainly our cadets are still in shape and prefer to wear the AF style uniform. And apparently I never read the regs unless challenged on something that I know nothing about yet feel the need to talk about. Also, I forgot that the OP was asking about cadets over 18. Gingko biloba...take me....um...someplace?

The Wing Conference page on the Wing Calender on the CAWG web page says exactly what uniform combos are to be worn.
You need to read this page to register for the conference anyway.

Can you please insert a link? I have searched all over the CAWG website & the cawgconference.org website, and have found nothing about the uniforms permitted this year.
I've never been to CAWG but I've been to other Wing Conferences and National Conferences. The standard uniform is short sleeve blues, service dress, or white and grays for the information/learning sessions.
If you are wearing BDU's, a flight suit etc you're going to stick out like a sore thumb. For the regular learning sessions, blues or equiv is your best bet.
If you are attending any dinner banquet, then mess dress, semi formal dress for cadets (if applicable), tuxedo, civilian dress (for females) etc are all options, pretty much what you would wear to any type of formal banquet.
Okay, short and sweet. No Flight suits, blue or green. No BDU's or BBDU's. No CAWG Ground Team uniform.
Shortsleeve blues, white aviator shirt/ grey slacks combo or golf shirt combo are okay during the day.
Mess Dress, Service Dress or Suit and Tie for the Awards Banquet on Saturday night.

Um...partial...no?
All cadets can wear the blazer combination.
No cadets can wear the Gray/White.
CAPM 39-1 1-5 b "CAP Distinctive Basic Uniform (senior members only)"
CAPM 39-1 Figure 4-2 "Men's and Women's Aviator Shirt with Epaulets (Senior Members Only) ."
CAPM 39-1 4 -1 "4-1. General. Cadet members are authorized to wear the CAP utility uniform, field uniform, and blazer
combinations as desired."
Cadets over 18 who do not meet weight requirements cannot wear USAF-style uniforms. So they are stuck with the Blazer uniform for a dress uniform, and the CAP-distinctive 'work uniforms.' (Field Uniform, Utility Uniform)
Quote(1) Cadets over the age of 18 are now authorized to wear the aviator shirt and gray
slacks combination. The blue cadet nametag and grade insignia is worn in the same manner
worn on the Air Force light blue shirt.
I stand corrected (with cite) but where did that come from, I checked the letter and didn't see it.
Edit: And there it is!
Edit 2: And that's why my eye jumped over it again and again. It is the only sub paragraph that doesn't have a bolded title. It just blended into the background noise when I was reading headings.

I hope you read your EAM checklists better then you read that paragraph.
