You may find this as a strange question but I am currious.
What type of underwear do you wear with your BDUs and your Blues. Boxers, Briefs, Tighty Wighties, or even sliders. Please list what you find most comfortable with both the BDUs and the Blues.
All I know is that if you wear the ranger tab, you are supposed to go commando.
I have a bad feeling about CPPT and this thread... :o

Whats wrong with the thread? Its not inopropriate at all. Just a question about underwear.
The underwear I wear under all of my regular clothes, Hanes boxers. I usually try to pick black underwear because I can. BDU's I usually wear regular gym shorts under.
A Marine habit: green silkies.
A thong =P
But seriously, I don't believe there is a particular type, merely that you are supposed to wear proper undergarments. As to what "proper" is, that's not defined.
So you guys don't really wear underwear but shorts under your BDUs?
I wear dry-fit boxer briefs under field uniforms and flight suits.
I wear boxer shorts with all uniforms.
Wear whatever's comfortable. Just remember what mom said about it being clean.
May I ask you why you are asking this?
Because I just got my BDUs and wanted to know what would be most comfortable with it. Because most of the day i am adjusting my crotch area.

Pretty much. Google Image Search "Marine Silkies" to see what I generally wear.

Go baggy in the pants if they are not. Not 'gangsta' baggy, just regular combat fit.
I wear compression shorts under my blues. Other than that, same as normal.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot are compression shorts? I don't like the name or what it implies!

Basically Under Armor boxer breifs. They are moisture wicking and go a long way in hot and humid weather.

Aren't compression shorts like sliders?
As an old infantry guy, let me say this. If you are going to be doing a lot of walking in them, do not wear jockey shorts. Most of the seasoned soldiers would wear silk running shorts for road marches. Bike shorts were also an option. For normal, go to my weekly meeting, etc. just wear what you normally wear. I don't know about the UA or new synthetics but unless your doing some serious distance marching, I would save my money.
Also, if you are going to do some serious road marching(10+ miles), do not carry anything in your pants pockets especially the cargo pockets. After a few miles, they will start rubbing on your legs and make "strawberry" sores.

Just a joke...
10 years in the Infantry I never wore underwear in BDUs or anything for that matter. It wasn't until I had to start wearing suits in 2001 that I had to buy underwear to put on daily. Still today, I can't stand wearing underwear with jeans. ABUs are are just too coarse to not wear underwear and these days I wear Underarmor Boxer-Briefs, which have been my underwear of choice since about 2006.
FWIW - in a flight suit, I wear "Ranger Panties" or "Silkies".

Being infantry also, I'm almost positive he doesn't mean what you're thinking. He probably means he wore PT shorts with BDUs or cammie, rather than underwear.
No, I did not wear ANY underwear, period. It was fairly common at the time, I'd say at least 50% did not wear underwear in BDUs.

I've never understood the 'ZOMG He's not wearing underwear!' reaction to this. ::)
But there are thousands if not millions of people who go every day without. In some parts of the world it is far more common. Especially in places where they wear robes and undergarments or pants actually restrict the airflow that help keeps them cool.
Now if it's all in good fun...have at it. 8)

Having a bit of fair Alba (no, not Jessica) along with the Auld Sod in my bloodline, I resemble that remark!

My uncle told me that when he was stationed in the UK in the early '50s, some Scots troops of the British Army visited them. He said they were great guys until one of the USAF guys who had "taken drink" remarked about "men wearing dresses" and the Scots beat the pulp out of him.
My dad told me that back when he was in the Army (late '50s) he was issued boxers. He promptly told the 1st Sgt "I am
not wearing those!" 1st Sgt said, "OK, but you need them in your footlocker for inspection."

Am I reading this right, Doc —You're wearing boxers
underneath silkies? If so, where do you find the room?! Silkies are like painted on everybody as it is. Heh.
Yes, my silkies are extra Big, I didnt say it was the most confortable thing in the world, lol.
This thread has gotten funny quickly. I tried wearing UA under uniform, but got uncomfortable. Like sitting on a cheese grater or something (or velcro)? I wondered the same thing when I joined awhile back.
Am I the only boxer-brief man out here? I never thought of wearing compression shorts under the uniform but I do wear them when umpiring baseball.

boxer briefs here. although i did have an ill-fated experience with boxers while in basic. the left "leg" rode up into an very very uncomfortable place and i could not fix the situation for several hours. once i did, it felt like heaven until it rode up again. i went back to jockeys.

In my opinion, it's the best way to go. Gives enough support, and freedom to keep comfortable no matter what you wear.
At encampment I use the Equipo brand. It's like under armory, but not as tight.

Nope. I wear them standard. If I have a serious ruck on the agenda, (haven't for a while) I'll wear spandex compression shorts underneath.
For those who only know Under armour for compression shorts, I have had good luck with McDavid and Shock doctor too. I only know where to get them online, never see them in store.
I wear Starter Dri-star....
