Nope, cadets are authorized to wear the NRA marksman badge IAW CAPM 39-1. It's not exactly "shiny" in the sense of high-polish/ultra-brite, but it is metallic. :)
The ribbon you may be thinking of is the AF SAEMR, which I know you're familiar with George. :)
