Title: New CAP historical marker in NC

Sort of misleading article in that it implies that the anti-sub work was done by NC Wing members only.  Most of these bases had people drawn from several states.

Thanks for posting that link.  We're excited about the marker and will have many relatives and 1-2 survivors from Base 16 at the dedication.

FYI, of the 151 CAP personnel assigned to Base 16, Manteo, 147-1/2 were from NC.  The 1/2 results from a member serving two hitches at Base 16 -- on the first hitch he was an NC resident, on the 2nd Virginia.  One of the other 3 was TDY from Base 6 (GA) to help get Base 16 started and then returned.  The last 2 were sent down, together, from CAP National, and returned there together a few months later.

I do not have detailed personnel records from Base 21, Beaufort, but from their "yearbook" history of the 140 CAP personnel assigned, 132 were from NC.

So, for both bases, some 96% of the personnel were Tar Heels - perhaps the article isn't all that misleading.
