Title: IL Wing Fallen Members
Post by: RiverAux on June 29, 2012, 09:39:34 PM

Are all of these Illinois Wing members who have died as a result of CAP duty?  Or those who happened to die while a member?

Just members, not necessarily specific to Illinois Wing, for example Al Pabon is listed.

It's nice to see they were able to honor Col. McLaughlin before he passed:

A long time ago, Lt. Al Pabon was in my former unit...and went on to higher echelons in the Wing. So he at least was a former ILWG member.

Maj Donald D. Broden, who passed in April '05, was my Grandfather.

He was directly responsible for my becoming a CAP member.

Reminds me that I have to send in several names that were omitted from BITD.

Honestly, I think that page needs to be renamed at best.  Few, if any, on that list are actually "Fallen" in the sense that it
normally means, they are simply deceased, and more then a few died long after their CAP days had passed them.

There's nothing wrong, I guess, with a list of former members who have died, but I know the way its currently categorized
has rubbed more then a few people the wrong way.

I suggested it several years ago, but I wanted to call it the "Missing Man"Page as in the Missing Man formation. Doesn't really categorize them as "fallen" as in "fallen in the line of duty" but still honors the memory.
