I don't see why not. I also have some other awards to present.

I don't see how I can take a week off for RSC. I don't need it for my position. I can't take the paycut (week off without pay). I wish they could spread it out over the weekends for a month. I guess I'm stuck at level 3.

You could take Squadron Officer School from ECI, AFIADL, AU A4/6. Self study with electronic exams at a local base.

Yup...a little publicized alternative to taking a WEEK off for RSC. I signed up for it and am awaiting my books and whatnot.

I don't know that's it's little publicized, but the requirements have recently changed in that you have to have a BS.  You'll also need to
test at a PME center now that wings can no longer administer AU tests and curriculum.

The degree requirement closes the door to this option for a lot of members.

And now for the really obscure. Become a Character Development Officer and attend 2 Chaplin Region Staff Colleges (20 hours each) within 5 years of each other. CAPR 50-17

Minor correction, but SOS requires one to have a bachelors degree but does not specify type of bachelors, so it can be a BS (Bachelors of Science) or a BA (Bachelors of Arts) or any other type of accredited bachelors.

I thought about that. I have a Master's, so no problem there. There is no local base though. I would have to drive 3-4 hours to find a base. Not sure it is worth it.

I was unemployed at the time and decided I might as well go to Las Vegas for RSC.   8)

I have a fellow SM who is looking into an alternative to RSC/SOS as well.   Since 50-17, Attach 2 plainly says that NCO Academies by correspondence also count for RSC credit (just the same as SOS by correspondence does), he's looking into whether or not ECI, err AFIADL, err AU 4/6 will allow CAP members to enroll in NCOA Distance Learning since that obviously should not require a baccalaureate degree.  Somewhere on one of the many AF web pages, there was something that said civilians in appropriate pay-grades were eligible enrollees for NCOA/DL.

Anybody else have experience trying to enroll in the NCOA/DL?

:o That's amazing!! Why didn't anyone think of this earlier??

Since the Community College of the Air Force considers CAP as "officers" and thus can't get a CCUF transcript of courses than through ECI/AFIADL, it's a good possibility that you can't . What would you list your grade when applying?

NCOA isn't Community College of the Air Force, though, from what I've read.  It appears to be the same type of distance learning course as SOS, offered directly by AU.  You wouldn't need a CCAF transcript to substantiate credit to CAP for PD equivalency purposes; the graduation certificate I'm sure would suffice.  Am I missing or misunderstanding something?

Same as we do for every other AU distance learning course, per AU policy.  In reading the applicable AFI's for Air Force PME, I didn't see anything that said officers are ineligible to take enlisted PME.

AU A4/6 has a Test Control Facility (TCF) list in Excel somewhere on its site. You can search by zip code. You might be surprised.

It is a really good idea, but it looks to me like CAP will need to discuss the possibility with the AFIADL folks in order to make it work.

Right now enrollment is limited to military members and federal civil servants. Ref, Page 129: http://www.au.af.mil/au/cf/au_catalog_2011-12/AU-10_Catalog_2011-2012.pdf (http://www.au.af.mil/au/cf/au_catalog_2011-12/AU-10_Catalog_2011-2012.pdf)

My Garber posted a few months ago...I just got promoted to Captain so I still have to wait three years before I can complete level 5 at NSC.  Otherwise all my requirements are already completed.

So once you make Major, AU 4/6 will not accept your application for SOS?  Only AC&SC?
