I will be attending the RMR Region Staff College in July this year at Peterson AFB. Does anybody have any useful tips?
Yeah, two things. Make sure your uniforms are sharp and be prepared to read. It may be helpful if you can get a copy of the course curriculum and reading materials before the RSC so that you're not overwhelmed.
Be prepared to be the youngest one there. I was 32 and I was the youngest by at least 15 years.
Bring a laptop (and a printer if you're able)
It's a lot of work, but there are three parties intermingled. (Meet and Greet, Barbeque, and the Dining out)
Don't lose your room key. The Billeting Officer does not like to run down to the office every 2 hours.
Have fun.
You could wait until next April and go to the Pacific Region RSC in Las Vegas! ;)
I just finished the NCR RSC at Offutt last week. Be prepared for classroom time, a presentation and plenty of meeting and greeting.
Bring a computer and plenty of business cards if you have them.
Make sure your paperwork is in order when you show up - ID, EAL if required, Safety Currency, etc.
Ultimately, my best advice is to have fun and enjoy the week. It will go fast!

Ugh - I >hate< you guys.
A group from my wing went together this year, I will never hear the end of it.
Worth it I'm told.

Or you could opt to go to one later in the year.
Keep in mind that there is Internet access in the VAQ but not in the classroom area. If you want Internet access in the classrooms, you will need a wifi hotspot or some other cell data option.
... or someone else in seminar that has one ...
Like I've done at both RSC and NSC, so that we all could get our research done.
I'm saving up my vacation time for RSC next year.... which region has the best one? >:D
Pacific Hands Down.
They're all good. I attended RMR and staffed NER for three years. The curricula are almost identical. The key is the contacts and sharing common experiences with your peers.
Thanks for the tips. I'm hoping to learn lots and do well. How is the biletting?
Peterson AFB is a major USAF base. It has good rooms and USAF cooks tend to be pretty decent.
As for other tips, come with an open mind, ready to learn and interact. 8)
I wanted to go to PRSC this year but some stuff came up with work. I'm thinking of going next year. Either that or I will hit NERSC this year. Still trying to figure some things out.
Remember to turn off your cell phone when any of the region or national staff officers are speaking....
>:D
