Between having read too much of Radioman and his CIVIL Air Patrol rants and bflynn's condescending tone, CAP Talk no longer meets my needs. Obviously, Radioman is the only member who has served in the military and bflynn is the only one with any leadership experience.
To the others on the board, I bid you blue skies and tailwinds.
Tiger 77, out.
:'( sorry to see you go.
Q'apla FlyTiger77.
At least .. I'm not the only one that sees the same.. :(
Though your title implies handing over a "win", I'm determined to counter BS, and ignore opinion, and not let anyone "win".
I hate to see one go, especially over another's issues.
But, I noted above that you said that it is obvious that RM is the only one who has served in the military, there are plenty of prior service on this board. I just hope you check back on this topic again before going. I have enjoyed quite a few of your posts and discussions.

Wow....
One or two people make some comments and that causes you to leave a board with hundreds of other people in it? Oh well....I guess your not reading this anyway. I can guarantee they arent the only ones with military or leadership experience. No doubt about that!
Is it possible to install an "Ignore" button so we can filter out a specific individual?
I have "ignore" features on my mouse. I can left click out of a thread, and I can scroll past posts I wish to ignore. ;)
Wow, people scroll past my posts. I'm hurt!
I understand actually and he was being sarcastic on the fact that there seems to be only two people with military leadership or experience here. He said that because that is the attitude THEY have.
I wish we could get a ignore or even a nice "kick this person from the forums" button.. but hey.. FT, your welcome here whenever, I wish however the other two you mentioned were not..
Fly safe out there sir.

Frankly, I'm not trying to win anything :(. I'm expressing my opinion, sometimes with a bit too much of what some would consider inflammatory language. Surely CAP is overall is a pretty good organization with many dedicated members both adults & teenagers. Although I joined as a hobby/entertainment diversion, it does feel good to help others internally and externally when those opportunities arise.
However, frankly if you read other posts and themes that constantly come up here my response and my guiding light:
*The AF doesn't hate CAP, please stop saying this, we are not the step child, etc.
*The world won't end if we don't get the latest AF uniforms authorized to wear.
*CAP membership in itself is not a gateway to any military benefits or any on base benefits that even other civilians might get.
*Most people in the AF don't know about CAP, and most really don't care about the organization one way or the other, so don't impose on them unless they ask you.
*Be sure you totally understand the ramifications to you personally/financially if you get hurt, have an accident with a CAP vehicle, etc while performing duties in/at a CAP activity or CAP (not AF sanctioned) mission.
*Be realistic in your expectations about the organization, especially in the Emergency Services mission area.
*IF you are utilizing any CAP owned equipment, vehicles, or aircraft, treat it as if it were purchased with your own money and protect it (actually it has been bought with your tax or squadron money).
*Remember that you are a volunteer, and you can pick & choose what you want to do, participate/not participate in any activity at any time; however, if you commit to something you should follow through on it OR notify the adult/cadet leadership (as applicable) IF you can't.
*If you are in an "active" CAP membership category, please make an attempt to assist in your unit of assignment. Sometimes even doing a small portion of a duty can help others in the unit a lot.
*Have a complete understanding of AFI 10-2701 'Organization and Function of the Civil Air Patrol', that is is your guidance of what the AF expects from CAP as an organization and its' membership.
*Lastly remember we are the CIVIL Air Patrol, no more or no less, the Official CIVILIAN Auxiliary of the United States Air Force.

I think it's more of a benign neglect than "hate."

Who says it will? I think all I've seen on that is that if AFJROTC/AFROTC can wear the ABU, why not us?

Who's asking for these benefits? I believe most of us know that it is down to the largesse (or lack thereof) of local wing kings.

I won't lie; this
is one of my thorns in the flesh, especially since it wasn't always this way. There is absolutely no reason why and nothing stopping the Air Force from telling new trainees who we are, even if it's just the MTI giving a 30 minute briefing in the dayroom at the end of the day instead of talking about why s/he is God's gift to the Air Force (OK, they're not all like that, but mine certainly was). Example: "Now and then you'll see some civilians on base wearing the AF uniform with some different insignia. They are the Civil Air Patrol, they are our volunteer Auxiliary, and this is what they do."

I am a former safety officer. I have given briefings on those issues
ad nauseam.Quote from: RADIOMAN015 on May 30, 2012, 10:50:40 PM
*Be realistic in your expectations about the organization, especially in the Emergency Services mission area.
I don't think anyone in CAP
realistically expects it to be an unpaid version of the Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard. And there are more than a few of us who really do not believe ES is the be all/end all of CAP. I spend much more time on AE.

Basic common sense.

Basic common sense part II. Even if I cannot attend a squadron meeting I let the CC know.

This is an area that needs to be addressed in CAP. Don't take a position unless you're prepared to get
at least a Technician rating in its speciality track.

I have one in my CAP binder and have had for a number of years. However, on the part about uniforms (yes, uniforms), it is full of Texas-sized holes.

Frankly RM, I'm so new on these forums it should hurt to type.. and yet even -I- took a deep dislike to your posts and your reiterations of demoralizing comments. Why is CAP treated so poorly? Oh yea.. people like you don't want to hold on the honor they gave us, in the ability to wear the AF uniform and be a member of the Air Force Family. If I looked at CAP and saw people like you, I would want to distance myself too.
I would say like to add, instead of having someone like Flying Tiger leave the forums, I wish the forums would allow us to ignore users and even ask for a removal of ones who don't seem to understand that they aren't exactly CAP-Material. :)
What is more shocking to me is that you say you were a Officer in the Armed Services before.. how?! Your so very negative on anything related to the Armed Forces supporting CAP and vise versa?! How could you be an Officer and LEAD others if all you do is look down and degrade? Like I said before, I would have pulled every string I could find to get you out of any squadron I was a part of when I was in Active Duty... because it is men like you on why good NCOs leave the service cussing.

Again?
I wonder if we attached a few of Radioman's threads to some of his press releases if they would contradict each other. I find it ironic that a PAO writes so negatively about CAP when he's anonymous vs. when his name is attached.
Doubtful
