Title: Received Wisdom
Post by: FlyTiger77 on April 11, 2012, 03:06:34 PM
While perusing the blog of the late CAPT Carroll "Lex" LeFon, USN (Ret), I came across this:

"As a pilot, only two bad things can happen to you and one of them will:
A. One day you will walk out to the aircraft knowing that it is your last flight.
B. One day you will walk out to the aircraft not knowing that it is your last flight."

Neptunus Lex, the name under which he blogged, was killed last month in the crash of a Kfir fighter in Nevada where he worked for a contractor providing OPFOR in support of the USN. Not only was he an accomplished aviator, but he was also a very good writer.

I agree wholeheartedly. He was an amazing writer, who had the ability to convey his experiences to his readers. I met him once, over some adult beverages, and he was one of the most engaging people I've ever met.
