Hello everyone.
I was interested in starting an honor guard team at my squadron. I am currently assistant color guard commander at my squadron. I have a few cadets that want to form a team and I am just curious about how to go about this task. What would we need and who should I tak to about starting one? What all does an honor guard do that differs from colorguard and what supplies or uniform items would differ?
Thanks in advance for the posts!

Your squadron commander for sure, and possible wing DCP

They have 4 elements, drama, Ceremonial/Demonstration (including rifle maneuvers), Colors Element, and Funeral Element. The colors element is the only thing that resembles color guard.
You'll need:
1 SM
4 cadets
Service coats
MALE service caps
rifles
ascots
cords
pistol belts
Thanks for the response. I just wanted to look into it. I have had enough people say they were interested, I think ??? But I will definitly check out the manuals.
BTW, what was the apples and oranges supposed to mean? ;D I will kost likely get it whileim laying on my pillow tonight and the answer suddenly pops into my head. :-[

I think he understood the expression, just not how it applied.
OP, he was trying to say that color guard and honor guard experience isn't necessarily interchangeable.
Both an Honor and Color Guard utilize the same foundations. Both require a high level of discipline, outstanding uniform appearance, motivation, practice, attention to detail and above all the tenacity to stick with it. Having done both in my cadet days in two separate programs they use the same things mentioned above.
You can reference CAPP52-8 for information on a unit level Honor Guard program. And you can look at the following link for more information on drill and ceremonies;
