Anyone traveling to Washington D. C. for Legislative Day?
If so, what are some things you are doing while in town, and more importantly any advice for a guy thrown under the bus first timer?

Depends on how long you're going to be there. Certainly you'd want to visit some of the great museums and tourist sites. For one you should visit the National Air and Space Museum on the National Mall; see in person all those famous flying contraptions you only read about or see on film.
If you had additional time you could visit the Udvar Hazy Center of the National Air and Space museum, however that is out near Dulles Airport in Virginia. Depends if you have a car or not, getting there by public transit takes a bit longer since there is no rail service out to Dulles Airport...yet. However there are plenty of museums and historical landmarks within Washington DC to keep one busy for a short trip.
Go visit one of the local NHQ squadrons on their meeting night.... *cough* Mt. Vernon *cough* or you could tour Mt. Vernon itself... go visit Arlington cemetery and pay your respects.... lots of stuff to do in D.C. in your time off...

The total event is 3 days long. 2 days will be for touring Washington, going to Arlington, National Air and Space Museum etc and the third day (March 1st) will be the actual legislative day where we'll talk to our Congressmen.
Parking at Udvar-Hazy is $15 bucks. Unless you get there after 1600. The museum closes at 1730. The hour and a half may not be enough depending on how you do museums, but if you are staying near there, you can go back the next day, ..and the next.. ;-)

I did Udvar-Hazy in 45 minutes once...

Is that before they opened the second wing? I spent 3 1/2 hours there in'08 or '09, and felt like I running through.

About 3 weeks after it opened. Like January 3rd 04
Oh, there's a lot more to see now. If we get to go to DC this year, it's on the top of the sightseeing list.
