Finished up my CFI Helicopter add on yesterday. 3.2 hrs of flight and about a 6hr ground! Long, but the first 1.5 was nothing but full touch down auto rotations. Odd format, but this examiner does about 1.5 of full touch down training with the applicants as part of the checkride day. Your not being evaluated, but its part of the day. We landed, did the ground, and then went back out for another 1.7 for maneuvers and one final graded full touch down auto.
I thought the ground was going waaaaaay long, and I knew I was covering things that were not required again for an add on. While I was teaching one of my last classes to him, I made a comment that a lot of my airplane lesson plans also crossed over into the helicopter world. 6Hrs into my ground he says, "Oh! Thats right, this was a CFI add-on huh?" :o
Anyway.....I guess it left me know doubt that I knew the material. Wheeeew.
Well, I know who I'm seeing for my primary helicopter training.

Here, here. If I ever find myself in California, I just might have to put up a couple hours in a helicopter :).
Flying Pig, congrats on your new rating :).
Congratulations, Rob. Now I know why you ignored my call yesterday. You might have been a little bit busy.
