I need to figure out a topic for a research paper I have upcoming...
I wanted to do something about CAP, but I don't think empirical research has been done about CAP.
Does anyone know of something CAP related that has academic research done about it?
CAP's role in civil defense in WW2, or CAP and other youth organization's impact on young people.
Just some ideas.
Isn't the point of a research paper that the writer do research, and not just parrot the works of others?
Well, what type of class is this for? Need to narrow the scope down a bit.

Sir, my teacher said to ask friends and families.
Getting suggestions from people isn't parroting the work of others.

Composition 2. Also known as ENC1102
Stick with what you know best and you will do well. It's worked for me anyways.

But then I won't learn anything.
If I stuck with what I know, I'd write a paper about Piracy. Or about social networks.

It appears on the surface that you are looking for research that others have done.
I can certainly sympathize on the finding a topic problem; that plagued me for years. But there are a number of resources out there, particularly on Scribd, and the Facebook group "Civil Air Patrol History".

I need research, it is a
research paper.

Never heard of Scribd, and I don't have FB.
Edit: Looking at Scribd 90% seems to be legislature. The rest are pamphlets.
I think you have a mistaken idea of what research paper means. I suggest that you look at each of these:
Academic paper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_paper)
Term paper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Term_paper)
Thesis or dissertation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thesis_or_dissertation)
I think your assignment is probably the second one. I never had a similar assignment in a composition course, but I guess the emphasis is primarily on form and presentation, and not content.
Yeah it is a term paper. My bad for not being clear.
I like to do something that I will learn something from. Not just talking about what I know. I could ramble on about "Piracy, the casual crime" "anonymous, are we truly?" "RFIDs, tomorrows crime" "Do juvenile deliquescents benefit from peer judgement?" "Is the US safe from Cyberwar?" "Is anonymous a force to stay?" "The force for evil, Anon" "Is affirmitive action really useful?"
Those were all off the top of my head, and I could write a couple pages without looking at anything.
I've been thinking of doing "Does mass media exaggerate 'cyber war threat'?" Or "does the mass media understand the internet?"
QuoteI guess the emphasis is primarily on form and presentation, and not content.
I still have to come up with 10-15 pages of stuff( it has to be double spaced, so actually like 6). The form and presentation matters, but I like having solid content more than anything. Plus I have to give a power point on it. ;)

I'll help. The answer is no to both.
You would be better served by picking something that you know then spend some time searching the internet for resources. Asking CAPTalk "What should I do for MY paper?" is going to be about as useful as asking it what the weather is going to be tomorrow.

I originally wanted to do something about CAP. After doing some research I found there was anything I could find that had sources.
I asked Eclipse, and then I decided to ask all of you for help. If you don't want to help me, fine.

They do exaggerate the cyber war threat. I do agree they don't understand the internet.
Here, in two seconds I pulled up CW's claim that a russian hacker "militia" attacked Georgia. (in their conflict)

BAM and all in 10 minutes.

It's not that I don't want to help you, honest (ask someone who knows me in person, I'm a nice guy :) ). As a fellow student, I'm trying to get you to redirect your focus somewhere more useful :).
Back to CAP - Scribd is an online document repository. There's a bunch of CAP related material there.

How long do you have to do this paper?
I don't have my syllabus in front of me ATM, but I still have lots of time. I don't procrastinate that much. :D
My topic isn't due for a week, week and a half.
The paper isn't due for like a month and a half..
I searched CAP on Scribd earlier, but I only found legislature, pamphlets and two papers that were, lets just say odd.
Did you go to the first link I posted? It might take a few minutes of clicking through the pages of the index, but there's a ton of stuff on there.

There was a sociology doctoral disseration at USC or UCLA: "Old Men in Young Mens' Uniforms"
How about CAP's role in the space program.
I've heard that there were a few written by Air University students/staff, but I haven't verifed this.
