Title: A-TAC pattern?
Post by: Eclipse on November 03, 2011, 06:41:38 PM
Got this today from bdu.com - is this something they made up or is it a new military pattern?

Might be nice for knock-around stuff if it isn't a mil-spec pattern.  I actually kind of like it, though I haven't seen it in person.

When I used to do more oil changes, I had a shirt that looked just like that.

The company that produced it is trying to get their pattern adaopted as the new Army camo.

Here's the official site: http://a-tacs.com/ (http://a-tacs.com/)

Supposedly, it's effective, but I have no personal experience. I've seen one on a mannequin at US Patriot. It's browner than the pic you posted.

Interesting.  Up close it looks kinda like "watercolor" UCP.

Like most of these things, when it works, it works:

It even includes the boots:

Meh, looks alright but the Multicam pattern to me does the same job if not a bit better based on the pictures I've seen.

A box of Tide and a can of Kiwi can clean that uniform up in no time.

I guess if someone wants to really look dirty then this is the uniform for it.  "Private Pigpen report to Captain Slob".

It reminds me of some of the Warsaw Pact patterns.  They were really into the Fuzzy Camo and Rainy Camo.

It looks like the Colonial Marines from Aliens.

I read a thing many years ago (before the big UCP/MARPAT/MultiCam dustups, when BDUs were still "new") that said "Basically, beyond a couple hundred meters, its all just a green suit."
