Title: PT Test
Post by: Huey Driver on November 02, 2011, 03:02:38 AM
Hi All,
Last time I took a PT Test, I was a Senior Airman. I passed and  also met all of the standards for the 30th percentile (What I need now). Our Deputy Commander for Cadets who administers the test still has a copy of the results of the last PT test. Since I met the requirements for the percentile I need now, can it count towards my next promotion?

And yes, I know I should take PT again for this promotion, it's just that I'm very busy right now and can't make all of the meetings.

Thanks!

Nope, new achievement, new PT test. You cannot "bank" any of the tests in the cadet program.

There are a couple of things that say you should take another PT test.

First are the regulations.

Quote from: CAPR 52-16
e. Frequency. Tests may not be "banked"; tests completed during a previous achievement or milestone award are not applicable toward future achievements or milestone awards. Cadets must pass the CPFT during each achievement and milestone award.

Second are our Core Values.

You state, "And yes, I know I should take PT again for this promotion, it's just that I'm very busy right now and can't make all of the meetings."  So, if you KNOW what the right thing is, but you don't do it, you are compromising your integrity.  Your leadership book tells you that Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.  As a Cadet NCO, you are the example to the cadets below you.  Be an ethical leader and show your cadets that the Core Values are more than just words on paper.

Now, there is a right way to go about getting your CPFT done outside of your meeting.  CAPP 52-18 says:

QuoteTest Administrators. The CPFT must be administered by a senior member, who need not be the unit's testing officer; a CAP-USAF member; or with the unit commander's approval, a physical education teacher.

So, if you can get your school's PE teacher to proctor the CPFT for you, and the unit commander approves, you can still get credit.

I've done this before, because I was sick the night my squadron did their CPFT. And because I didn't want to wait a few months for my promotion, I asked my CoC if I could do this. Note: don't regard this as the 'normal' or regular way to get your CPFT done, IMO it should only be used as a "special occasion" measure.

Thanks for the clarification and the help. If need be I will go to my PE teacher.

I also should have seen how integrity and is multidimensional and applied there. I just didn't feel like I would be doing anything wrong, but now I understand. Thanks again

That's interesting....in my squadron you can have your past PT test count for promotions.

They are violating regs. In a rather big way.

You have to pass a PT test for each achievement and you can only take it while you are working on that achievement.
Banking of tests, written and PT, is expressly prohibited.
See CAPR 52-16 and 52-18 for more info.

Keep in mind that a cadet normally has a minimum of two attempts to pass a PT test for each achievement. Any one test that he/she passes counts for that achievement even if they fail the other test.

Yes. The unit is required to provide testing once a month and since it takes eight weeks per achievement that should provide two shots.

That is not true anymore
Many units still do it though.

You have to have minimum 1 hour of "fitness" contact time a month
but it doesn't have to be the CPFT

Same with character development, by the way.

My squadron still offers both every month, and expects all cadets to participate actively in both, even if they don't need it for their next promotion.  It's part of the culture of fitness (and of character for that matter)
