Post by: Larry Mangum on September 06, 2011, 05:55:58 PM
For those of us who are planning on attending this year, how many have started the reading assignments?

I've downloaded the readings, just gotta print them out and put them in a notebook. I'll probably begin the readings in a couple of weeks, and I have plenty of time while flying from Kwaj to Vegas, during my first few days in Sin City and from Vegas to Montgomery to get familiar with them. Haven't seen the NSC curriculum guide posted yet, though.

Hello to all NSC participants! Looking forward to meeting everyone at Maxwell! I dont remember doing this much reading at Region Staff College back in 1994. Anyway, I have not started also and for those who want to know the details of the mandatory readings here goes:

Block 1 - 5 readings at 55 pages in total
Block 2 - 16 readings at 229 pages in total
Block 3 - 5 readings at 103 pages in total

Some I have read already and others are new. Happy reading!

So far we have three CAPTalkers, including myself going to NSC next month. Anyone else (studentsfaculty/staff)?

I agree...  ;D

For those of us heading to NSC, here's some info on the BX and the MWR restaurants/clubs at Maxwell. Already sent a copy to the NSC registrar, not sure if they've already got that included in our welcome packets.

One week to go before I get 'paroled' from 'Kwajatraz Federal Penitentiary' - ahem, go on vacation - and two weeks before NSC! (It's a Kwaj thing, you wouldn't understand!  >:D )

All you CAPtalkers coming to NSC - if you're on Delta - ahem, ASA - 5102 flying to KMGM from KATL on Saturday October 15, give a shout out!

US Scairways 14-Oct, 2583 .. In a classic case of "Can't get there from here", without leaving at some rediculous time, or paying some insane amount to a totally legacy, backwards thinking air carrier, I found it easier to get there the evening before, so when reporting at 1400, it starts like a 'normal' day, instead of one that started at 0400 three time zones away, in the un-advantaged direction. Going home is easy. :) Leave 1250, home in time for dinner, and pick up Round Table Pizza on the way... :)

Yay Internet.

And if you have a Kindle, the NSC readings can be loaded for easier reading - just remember that you may need to zoom in to read it clearly!

If anyone is interested.. I put all the PDFs into categories with META data to sort them, renamed nicely, Instead of all the horrid names from NHQs rotten CMS. Though a bit late for prep .. if you want them for a device during the week.. don't know what seminar I'm in yet, as hardly anyone does, though I'm sure the word has leaked to a few.. I have it on a USB stick.
