Linux(ditto for this)
Programming books(optional)
Knowlege of programming
Network security knowledge
A server(optional)
A tech mentor(check with a college, computer professors might want to help out.
4 cadets who are willing to devote tons of time to this.(prefered if they have a basic knowledge of technology)
I hope you guys win!!!! Keep me posted as to how you guys are doing.
Edit: cyberpatriots is a competiton training cadets in network security, and protecting information. Nerd stuff...
thanks i really appreciate it. i just found out that we were gonna try to start a team at last nights meeting and i wanted to learn more about it
;)
I am srs, keep me posted dude!!
:)
If I can help any, lemme know...
I am also running a CyberPatriot team at my squadron.
We have the Fedora image, but it's password protected.
Are we supposed to have the password or not?
Errrrrrr
I dunno, just crack the pw ;)... Jking
I haven't done cyberpatriots, just looked into it, intensly.
If you need to, download fedora from a different site..
@Vorter - CyberPatriot is focusing on Ubuntu rather than Fedora. They have an Ubuntu VM posted on their website.
Thought so, ubuntu is better anyway!

Besides, teh interwebz doesn't convey sarcasm.
yes good luck 8)
hope to maybe see you there :P
Cyberpatriot looks cool on paper (you might think of the movie WARGAMES), and it's marketed towards everyone even without computer experience. In reality, if you don't have computer savy cadets you're not going to get far. It's fun for computer savy cadets, extremely boring for non computer savy cadets, unless they like hours of looking at a computer screen of code and scans.
Last year our team got to round 3 (passing the first two round by just doing virus scan and a few windows clean up items).
From what you need, linux appeared late in the game last year, the first three rounds center around Windows based operating systems and vulnerabilities (since many people use windows, especially the cadets, it's good to teach them the mainstream stuff first, later in round three and the semi-finals and finals, Linux was used as well).

It could be a good
segway segue to collegiate CDCs later.
