I'm looking to do a budget proposal for next fiscal year for the squadron to buy a flight simulator, total package to include, the controls, computer, projector, and screen (which I've seen in one squadron), but also would look at a large LCD TV type screen being utilized in lieu of a projector onto a light background type screen.
HOWEVER, I'm looking for input and specific references to what is currently available and the cost.
An internet search reveals some interesting prospects:

Again, anyone that's currently involved with simulator technology & utilization. I think it would be a great tool for both cadet & senior internal aerospace education. I personally, would like the ability to change the type of aircraft from small to large, and even rotor craft.

Are you looking for a game or a certifyable/loggable PCATD?
What does your AEO want to use? That's what really matters.

X-plane is incredibly versatile, but somewhat less user friendly than some others. It can be a great tool for teaching aerodynamics, as it is an actual aerodynamic simulator (simulating airflow over the aircraft).
It has aircraft that go from LSAs all the way up to A380. It even has the capability to simulate aircraft in the Martian atmosphere and fly on Mars, again based on the actual physics of the different gravitational and atmospheric densities.
