Post by: Maj Alfred on July 18, 2011, 05:45:38 PM
Does any one know where I can find an on-line IT Workshop I've been looking online since this morning and can't find it.

Nor will you, probably.
You could always host one at your next conference :)

That would meet your requirement for yourself,
and possibly for some other people having the same problem.

No.....that's one of the cool parts about a new program.

What things would you like to know as a new squadron IT officer?

Pick 3-4 of them break them into 45 minute blocks and then find some instructors.......bam!  Instant IT workshop.

As a suggestion...

Squadron Web Site design.
Using Excell and Power point for squardons.
Using Sims for squadrons.
Simple LAN design for squadrons
Social Media for squadrons (i.e. using facebook and yahoo groups)

There's nothing in there that says it needs to be an ITO workshop...find a piece of software that you use in your wing, and do a workshop on it for general members.

There are usually at least 3 IT seminars at the National Boards each year.  One is geared towards the CAP Utilities side of eServices, another towards the Restricted Applications side and a third is geared towards tools for commanders.  Add on the usual seminars from the ES/Ops side of the house that showcase some IT systems and there are a lot more that can be classified as IT seminars at NB.

I would be interested to see something like BigBlueButton used for an on-line workshop. Rackspace sells VPSs by the hour and it would be interesting to spin one up and see what could be done with it.
