I am a somewhat new member of CAP and I recently discovered CAP wireless center.
I have two questions,
1. Do you need to buy one of there plans to buy a phone from them, because I already have a sprint plan.
2. Is there some kind of catch?
Yes....if you do not buy a plan through them, the phones are very expensive.
The "catch" is they are an "authorized reseller", not the actual corporate entity. If you have any issues, your phone service provider (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.) will direct you back to the "middle man" you purchased from.
The prices offered in the CAP Cell Phone center are not necessarily the least expensive either!
Does anyone else have issues with this or the other "benefits" CAP tries to sell us on?
"CAP Wireless" is "Let's Talk, Inc" re-branded. Their "deals" are NOTHING. You can get the SAME thing by using letstalk.com, and ... they are just the same as buying from an reseller like a sleazy mall kiosk seller that will tell you anything.
It it NOTHING like a true affiliation/corporate discount that many carriers give for employer or public group affiliation. If anything, about the only thing 'CAP' about it, is NHQ gets a piece of it. You OTOH, get no extra special anything.
Oh, and yes- any issues, it becomes a buck passing contest. "See your representative"
On a positive note, the Hertz discount is good. We get the government rate, which is still significantly less than corporate rates (I've compared them). A mid-sized car, four days, after Christmas, was $25/ day including taxes vs. $78/day. Used the Hertz online and picked up at the Hertz Local Edition in Frisco, CO.
The only place anyone should get a cell phone or service is a full corporate store or calling the carrier direct.
I'll have to check the Hertz deal, that sounds like it actually has value.

I know. Surprised the heck out of me.
Thank you everybody, you answered all my questions.
