CAP Knowledge Base states that the Scanner/Observer Courses (02130A and 02130B) available at Air Univeristy are still active. It also states that those members who cannot reach a Scanner/Observer Course provided by the Wing because of distance or whatever, can enroll in AU, read the manuals, and take a written exam. Your comments are welcome.
That course was waived in 2001, and when it was offered it only provided a small piece of the
knowledge needed to be a Scanner, the majority of which requires hands-on training and regardless requires practical tasking.
Based on the current revision of the Scanner requirements, the classes would be pretty useless, and I seriously doubt you could
still pull them from AU despite what the KB says.
