Title: Foundations module?
Post by: muddcrawler on April 19, 2011, 03:25:56 PM
I joined CAP a little over a month ago and am trying to get all these test knocked out, so i can get promoted. I have finished leadership chapter 1 and my safety training. My question is what else do i need to do, i know i need to take a drill test and i still need to take my CPFT (and have my blues). What is a foundations module? And promotion board what is that?

I'm not being negative by saying this, but asking the cadets at your unit would probably give you a better idea of what to expect than we could. Promotion boards vary from unit to unit. Requirements vary from unit to unit, to a certain extent.

Foundations is for Senior Members. As in, 21 and older (keeping it simple).

It's outstanding that you're trying to be proactive, but these types of questions would be better suited to other local cadets. CAP Talk is a great resource, though- there will be plenty we can assist with!

Welcome to CAP :)

National standards dictate that you will also need to complete OPSEC and Equal Opportunity (I believe). Foundations is for senior members, you don't need to work about that. Local policies may require you to complete additional training - see you chain of command for more info (as DakRadz stated).

What is a foundations module?

The foundations module you're looking for is the Ground School lesson in the character development program. Your squadron chaplain or character development instructor can help you with this.

You'll also need to complete intro to basic safety before you can make your first promotion.

You are also going to want to make sure you have memorized the cadet oath and can recite it exactly without looking at reference material.

Cadets are not required to complete Equal Opportunity training, but they will be flagged on the report listing members who haven't taken it.

Clear as mud, right?
