It's the only way for most people to earn a promotion. This all should have been explained to you by your squadron.

> To be eligible for 2nd Lieutenant, one of the requirements is to complete Level One
> To be eligible for Captain, one of the requirements is to complete Level II
> To be eligible for Major, one of the requirements is to complete Level III
> To be eligible for Lt Col, one of the requirements is to complete Level IV
More importantly, the professional development program is designed to help you develop important leadership and specialty skills that initially help you to learn your job, and then as your progress, to do it better. The ribbons and award certificates are nice incentives, but it's all about knowledge and skills to better serve CAP and our nation.
