There is a feature article detailing CAP's participation in the Deep Water Horizon spill in the current (November 2010) issue of AOPA's "Pilot" magazine including pictures of a CAP aircrew and a picture of Col Rushing, the SER/CC.

I did see that. Good write-up. One thing though. On the Colonel's BDU's he was wearing the SAR/Ranger(?)  patch on the shoulder where the wing patch goes...is that OK???

				^^^^
Is he a FLWG or PAWG Member?
The bigger issue is the "Ranger" tab over the branch tape.
While the NB did vote to allow it, the USAF has not approved it for wear on the BDU. It is allowed on the BBDU.
Excellent Press though...and widely viewed. I was pleased to see the Colonel and CAP mentioned.

				Neither, he's the SER/CC.

I don't see it as an issue at all.  While it may drive some of us crazy, in reality, people reading it have no idea if something is, or isn't within regs.  I'm fairly certain that people watching the video or reading the article are a bit more concerned about the story than what he's wearing.
I think this was a fantastic story and really highlights the volunteers we have in CAP.  Keep up the great work, folks!

Amazing. From a post about outstanding coverage of outstanding people doing outstanding work to a uniform thread in just 3  TWO posts.
This place is incredible sometimes.  :-[

Jack: never underestimate the power of a uniform thread.  It is what some of our earnest members live for.

Does anyone know where to find the "end of mission" statistics for the DeepWater Horizon mission? I am looking for things such as: total hours flown, total man-hours, total aircraft involved, total personnel in the mission, etc, etc, etc.
Does anyone know of an data source?
Thanks.

				SER/CC has all that compiled.

Or the NOC: they can usually overwhelm you with numbers.
