QuoteCivil Air Patrol from Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana are currently searching for a plane that was scheduled to land at the Georgetown Municipal Airport Thursday night.

Charles Miller, of Georgetown, was last seen departing an El Dorado, AR airport on Thursday after being grounded by weather and to refuel.

According to the missing man's wife, Susan Miller, Charles had flown himself to Ohio on August 12 to attend a school reunion and to visit family.

...

Charles Miller is a member of the Apollo Wing Georgetown Civil Air Patrol. Susan has reached out to all the individuals in his flying community to help out in any way.

Miller's son said Sunday morning that 11 Civil Air Patrol planes are searching as well as a special search plane with a camera system.

Apparently no flight plan, no VFR flight following.  Spouse actually reported him missing (starting search) after checking hangar and finding his vehicle still in hangar when he didn't come home when expected.

I ran the search for Dave Weiss in Maryland several years ago.  Very similar circumstances.  It was very difficult.  I wish them the best of luck.

This afternoon an Arkansas Wing aircraft crewed by Lt. Col. Robert Penton, Col. Tommy Herndon, and Chaplain (Maj.) Larry Killian located the wreckage of an aircraft missing since Thursday.  The aircraft was spotted from the air at about 2:00 PM near the El Dorado airport.   A multi-agency ground team made up of a CAP, Union County Sheriff's office, and staff from the El Dorado airport made their way through thick forest to the site soon thereafter.
