Title: On the Mitchell
Post by: DakRadz on July 30, 2010, 03:22:20 AM
Since NHQ is currently in the middle of their non-internet-connected move into the permanent offices, does that mean promotions are being held up on the approval end?

Right now the Cadet Promotions and Training- Full Tracking Report link is not available for cadets, only on the restricted (SM) side- or at least that's my understanding. Point being, I can't check the status of what has been posted and what has not been, i.e. PT, AE test, leadership.

I can check encampment credit through the Training tab in Member Search, but that helps little.

I believe I have passed all required Mitchell exam portions (AE, Leadership, encampment, and Active Member are all good to go- fairly certain PT is as well). At the same time, I have no clue if my superiors have posted them or not, so I was wondering if NHQ would be able to approve promotions right now.

You should be able to see if your award has been approved in the same Training tab that you see your encampment credit.  Just scroll down a little more for the "Cadet Promotions" section.  You won't be able to see what has been entered for it but you will be able to see if it was approved.

This is what cadets used to do (if they had internet and eServices access) back before cadet promotions were online :P

Also, PM incoming.

Now officially promotable to the grade of C/2d Lt. TIG, all promotion requirements, and monetary expenditure have all met or exceeded the standards.

I'm not sure if it's going to happen before NHQ gets all set back up, but I should be good to go at the soonest possible chance.

Aren't those automated systems that could very well be housed elsewhere?

As of last night, the NHQ paid staff were expecting to begin moving back into the renovated building today but they were unsure about internet and phone connectivity.

Title: Starting a Tradition
Post by: DakRadz on August 02, 2010, 06:56:54 PM
So rather than start a new topic, I'll just fish for opinions here.

I'm thinking about starting a tradition at my promotion- being that I'm going to become a C/2d Lt, I won't need my enlisted flight cap device anymore. Therefore, my idea was to present this device to a cadet who has come a long way, done extraordinary, become a leader, etc.

I leave the description at that. Thoughts?

Most already have one, so the reaction will probably be more "What am I supposed to do with this?".  Why not give it to a brand new cadet who is still putting his/her uniform together?  They can actually use it and you can give them a nice speech about how you were once in their shoes...  (Walking 5 miles to school in the snow up hill both ways...  >:D)

Oooooo, already have a candidate. This is why I ask for opinions, sir  Fine idea.

Oh boy, I've got plenty of "new cadet" stories. Three programs worth XD
