Post by: HGjunkie on July 24, 2010, 09:02:59 PM
To all the cadets, GI's, and SA's who were at NHGA this year, thanks to a great academy! now lets hear some funny stories!

PS GO ATLANTIS! WE GOT HONOR FLIGHT!

Side note: anybody know anything about "ducks"? I hears something about them, but haven't gotten a complete idea of what they are.

Recommend contacting Spaatzmom via pm about them, she has the entire history of the "ducks" at HGA and beyond.

Grats on honor flight.

I went to HGA in 05, price was $425 + airfare I think. Planned to go the next year, since the price went down to $200 something, but for 06 prices went way up. :(

yeah, this year it was $500 plus travel, and we didn't get ceremonial rifles, ascots, or pistol belts.

ALSO: It was pretty sweet that the NCAC chair, C/LtCol King, came out to talk to us. He seems dedicated to smooth out some persistent problems that keep surfacing.

For $425, we got all the gear issued to us, down to the gloves and straps for the covers. It went down to $200 or so because you were expected to have those items after one year.

As for Chairman Zachary King...*shrugs*.

Returning cadets in 06 had a fee of $375 because they did not require the items they received in the basic year.  However, the following year 07 and beyond have had the $500 fee as the facility sharply increased their fees.  Finding a safe facility with the amenities needs for graduation has been an ongoing obstacle.  Lt Col Mayhew was actively trying to find and did find a new less expensive place, but when she stepped down this year, the current director did not want to move, so the cost was $500.
