Just received word that the NER SARCOMP scheduled for 7/31-8/2/2010 at Westover ARB, MA has been cancelled.
Apparently the base is not able to provide accomodations for the attendees due to an increased operational tempo.

WOW!!! I just sent one of the NER staff a recommendation on how they could still hold the SARCOMP at the same location. The prior info I had was after cancellation they were looking at some sort of region wide SAREX.. Give me a PM on it, because now I'm in a very confused state :o
RM
Didn't anybody check that, when setting the date?
Who was in charge of that?
:o

Definitely isn't an issue caused by anyone in CAP. A large contingent of Air Force Reserve personnel were placed on active duty, due to the wing's airlift support requirements for an operational surge.

So does this mean something BIG is coming this July, and it is coming through Westover?
Something not previously scheduled? At least not on the calendar.
Shock and Awe II?
OPSEC!
Ummm... shouldn't that just be "the military can't support us at that time" and be left at that? It's pretty obvious why, we only rate in priority just above civilian users, and it's happening everywhere seemingly. We are at war. That is their first priority.

I agree wartime takes precedence however IIRC reading some of the letters of historical value (posted here on this board) of CAP having encampments on base during wartime (during WWII) and they mentioned it would be a rare chance to be on base during wartime I guess that's true; however they seemed to have no problem hosting an encampment of course they limited the amount of people who could attend.

This is public knowledge as released by AF PAO officials.

So no need for the "secret squirrel" CAP'ers to be concerned >:D
RM
Well, my angle was more .. lets not make it sound like a particular unit booted us ;)
No secret squirrels here. If it's really a secret, you won't even know I know it.

Directly confirmed with a regional staff member who was part of the planning process. No competition this year.
It was fun last year to participate in a support role at this event. Hopefully 2011 won't see any limitations at the base :-[

Same thing that put kinks in the CAWG encampment planning, that they swear they're going to work out.
It's .. just that by now they have already done their staff selection, and thats next week. So they're not just late due to getting booted out of Camp SLO.

Isn't NVWG having this issue also? Are the two wings still planning to do it together in spite of slots available if it is going to happen?

If you knew the "fun" we had just getting a place to do staff selection, you wouldn't be so flip about it.
And it's still a CAWG/NVWG Encampment.
