Hello all,

I am new to this board, glad to have found you, and thought I'd write this quick note.....

I am also very new to CAP having just recently joined. I am excited to be joining this organization because of all the positive things about it!

I am a private pilot and look forward to sharing my love of aviation with the cadets. As I have read here, and elsewhere, the cadet program is active. At my first meeting, I was incredibly impressed at how 'adult' the cadets were acting. What a great mentoring opportunity.

I look forward to reading more and posting some of my questions..

Welcome!  :)

This is just a quick hello before I go back to lurking, but I thought it would be polite to introduce myself to the lovely forumites from whom I have been gleaning a great deal of useful information. I suppose I'm what one would call a prospective member: I began looking into the volunteer opportunities afforded by CAP a few weeks ago, and my curiosity is piqued further with everything I read. The discussion topics here have proven invaluable not only for helping me sort through the wealth of data at cap.gov, but for showing me a slice of the organization's membership around the country before I even contact my local squadron.

Okay, now for the requisite boring biographical stuff: I'm a geeky Navy wife with a BS in Computer Science and Religion (how's that for a set of disparate majors?), and my other interests range from foreign languages to neurobiology to yes, aviation. I am not a pilot, but I admit a certain enchantment with the idea of learning to be useful in an airplane; I could see myself going the route of mission scanner to perhaps mission observer someday.

Concerns about joining CAP include the merciless teasing to which my husband would subject me for wearing an Air Force-style uniform, but hey, that's the old friendly inter-service rivalry for ya. ;) In all seriousness, I look forward to learning more about the organization and appreciate the informative threads CAP Talk has provided--the discussion therein is a big help as I attempt to work out what to look for and the right questions to ask if I get to the point of seeking out a local squadron.

Ewww.  I don't know which would be more dangerous.  The hockey pucks or the players.
Definately the players, doesn't matter if it's guys or girls.
I played community league when I was younger so I could learn how to skate and by the time I got out of it I could skate and I knew who to watch out for, ause when they checked it hurt like the dickens.

BTW...
1st Lt. Oliver Thornton  from the Broome Tioga Composite Squadron of South Central Group NY Wing, I know a few of the lurkers on the site. (Lurkers-Anyone who is not registered but reads the posts, also known as guests.) and I have an idea of what some of the NY members look like.

Hello all! I've been a member for a little under two months here, and finally decided to make my first post. As my username indicates, I'm a C/MSgt in VAWG (VA-141, in particular). Hope to have some good discussion while I'm here!

Timbo

Hey all....I am Tim from PAWG.  Was a Cadet in the early 90's, went Air National Guard after H.S. , Commissioned through ROTC and traded my blue suite for a Green one about 3 years ago.  I am currently serving in the PA National Guard.  I was a very inactive Senior Member due to deployments (four in the last six years), but am getting back into the CAP routine.

In the civilian world I am a Surgeon at a Teaching Hosp in PA, and am married to a awesome lady (who was my nurse in the OR for two years  ;)  ).  I have a cat, one five year old son and a new baby girl.

In CAP I have a masters in CP, and a tech in Logistics.  I served for a brief time (3 months) as a SQD Commander and now am happy to just help out wherever it is needed.

I just stumbled across CAPTALK, never knew it existed, but am thrilled it DOES.
