Can a cadet who has their solo wings wear the sage green nylon flight jacket, and can they also use it as a jacket if needed over their BDUs? Is it within regs?

MIKE

You can't wear the flight jacket with the BDU.  You can wear the M-65 Field Jacket with the solo wings sewn on same as the BDU blouse.
Mike Johnston

Eclipse

Yep.  No flight jackets with BDUs are authorized for anyone.

Is there a uniform for cadets besides the flight suit under the jacket that's authorized to wear with the flight jacket?

The is NO uniform for ANYONE that you can wear the green flight jacket with.  Except a flight suit.

Huh, that came off snarky when it was supposed to be humorous.......

I just dont understand why Cadets and seniors for that matter ask the question without trying to find the answer in the regs first.  In the time it took to get on captalk, post the question and wait for responses they could have just gone to the member site and looked up the uniform manual.   Is it just a matter of being lazy and not wanting to do the leg work themselves?  I just dont get it...

The other side of the coin....may be that people have read the regs and/or asked someone in the chain....did not like the answer and are trolling for an excuse to do what they want anyway.

But yes....it does seem that CT is the go to place for answers....this can be a good thing and a bad thing.

I think I've said this before, SMs and cadets should be tested on the regs.

Pop quiz - which of the following is prohibited in CAPR265-2:

a) Nose picking
b) Acts of moral turpitude
c) Wearing pink on the third Tuesday of September

Post edited, last one didn't make sense.

Well, I didn't specify when, how much or what types of regs.

You just instantly took it to the extreme.

Lvl1: 39-1, 56-16 IF INVOLVED WITH CP, otherwise substitue the appropriate reg/manual.
Do an easy overview, nothing difficult. As they increase in PD levels, you are tested on more regs and more in-depth on old ones.

The tests would be completed at the member's convience. Just like everything else.

Actually, that theoretically happens right now through specialty tracks (yes, seniors take tests too - sometimes). But outside of that, very few of us are "single hatted" in a way that your plan would work.

And I took it to the extreme because that's where CAP quickly goes - the extreme. By the time these things get interpreted by X number of commanders and X^3 number of staff officers things can go awry very quickly.

So now I have a dilemma. I know a guy from another wing, who used to be in an overseas squadron, who told me his sister-in-law witnessed the following: a cadet, wearing pink ABUs, committing an act of moral turpitude during a Hawk exercise in which he was brandishing an unregistered lensatic compass.

When confronted by a SM who was WOG but evidently was permitted to wear his Ranger tabs on his Woodland Boonie Hat, this cadet refused to stop orienteering, picked his nose, and walked away.

And yes, this happened on Tuesday, 20 Sept.

Should I report this to the IG?  >:D  >:D  >:D

You know....we are already tested on the regulations.

All the Specialty tracks require knowledge of the regualtions.  Your PD officer/commander should be making sure you know the regulations before he signs off on them.

"Tests" of and by themselves....mean nothing.  Anyone can learn enough to pass a test...then 10 seconds later they do a brain bump and move on.

This is a prime example of why test are not smart.

This is a cadet asking about flight uniforms.....would that be on the test?  Cadets don't (usually) do flight activities.  So either they have to learn stuff they will most likely not use......or it will not be on test.

Even on AD......we don't require people to "learn the regs" just for learning the regs.  We provide the training they need to get by and reference the proper regulations so they can look up more detailed information if needed.

If we on CT were going to really help.......the first answer we should give to any questions....should be......"look what CAP (M/R/P) XXX-XX says and quote it on here".

Of course that means we will not have the fun of dog piling anyone.

Off topic.....anyone notice his signature.  a C/Sra is the Cadet Group Safety Officer?  CAWG that short on C/SNCO's and C/Officers that a SrA is the group safety guy.  Come on guys!  Way outside of the scope for a C/Sra!

I know SMs take tests. Our SMs gave us their level 1 and 2 tests.

It was a waste of time, I read 39-1, and answered them all correct...  8)
