What a Chicago Tsunami Would Look Like

I live about 75 ft above the flood stage of the nearby Merrimack River. I should be OK until the polar caps completely melt.

There are very near to me folks whose houses butt right up to the river bank.

And every spring, they're on the TV going "I don't get why I got flooded out!"

A) When you were forced to buy flood insurance as a condition of your mortgage, that should have been a hint.
B) That water rushing sound you heard out your bedroom window, while soothing, should have been yet another hint to your proximity to the water.
C) In some cases, the fact that you shouldn't walk 10 ft straight out your back door without wearing a life jacket might be another clue.

I like water just fine.  But my free, new "all natural lap pool" in my basement would be a royal pain.
