I have started a website called "This Day in Civil Air Patrol History" where I post (or try to post) something that happened on that day in our organization's or our noted members' history.  It is located at http://caphistory.blogspot.com.  So far, I've been using resources available online as source material.  I started in February and have found something for every day through the end of March.  (And admittedly, some entries are a bit of a stretch, others are of great historical importance.) I have also found other materials that I've written that will post on that day in the future.

As someone who has written history journal articles, I realize that as good as the Internet is to find stuff, particularly more modern materials, it is only one source.  Is there an online archive of CAP related documents that is either searchable or at least viewable?  Are there any CAP histories in book or written form that compile incidents by date?  Has someone written a good CAP history that I can buy in book form?

I also feed this site to several newspapers' reader blog pages in the Lee Enterprises chain, such as the Sioux City Journal.

Also, if you catch any errors, let me know that as well.  And if you have other suggestions, I welcome those as well.  If you rather, you can message me privately here or email me at eppcap(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thank you for your help and your ideas to improve my project!

Best regards,

I can't help you with any source material, but I do like the site and the concept.

Please, keep up the good work.

I had been doing a "This Day in Squadron History" thing in my weekly newsletter...however, I ended that segment because there was not enough time and too much stuff.  Give me some time I can get you some stuff.

There are a few documents that I transcribed that I had found in my old squadron's closet.  There is some stuff that is pretty neat that is from various months (mostly the 40's) including the activation of Puerto Rico wing, a cadet shooting, etc.
