ref. CAPR 60-3 section 2-5
What are the mechanics of the process described in this bit of the regulation? It doesn't sound like something that goes through regular Ops Quals channels; particularly this bit: The wing commander or his or her designee will approve re-qualifications.
Wing CC "designee" in most wings would be the DO / DOS - that's the last link in the chain.
1 - Complete any red tasks to the satisfaction of an SET.
2 - Complete a mission sortie as that specialty under the auspices of an SET.
3 - Chain approves requal.
The process is essentially the same as renewing the qualification before it expires, except that it must be approved, through channels, at the wing level.
So, if your wing requires all qualifications to be signed off up to wing level, in practical terms, there's no difference between requalifying before or after expiration?
Eclipse - I assume you mean "qualified supervisor" for step 2.
No, I meant SET.
And yes, essentially the processes are identical other then the number of tasks and sorties.

The regulation literally says "qualified supervisor"; where are you reading SET?
You can't enter a CAPID in Ops Quals for a task or sortie unless they are an SET, so regs or no, that's how the system works.

Tasks are signed off by Qualified Evaluators, aka SETs.
Mission/sortie participation is signed off by Qualified Supervisors, who are not necessarily Qualified Evaluators.
All renewal tasks must be evaluated and one mission participation sortie must be completed in order to renew or requalify.

Yeah, I could be a GTL and can supervise a GTM trainee or requal and not be SET, so I'd have to get a SET to go over and approve everything the trainee did. Cumbersome but cuts down on the number of people saying so and so signed me off. Where? On my SQTR. Were they SET? I'unno...
Along these lines, I'm supposed to ge finishing MP training soon, but my MS expires at the end of the month. If my MS expires I will no longer be eligible for MP since MS is a requirement and MP won't renew an expired MS?
Service as a MP *does* give equivalency for MS renewal.
CAPR 60-3 2-4.b.
A matrix of equivalent specialties is available on the NHQ CAP/DOS website.

Right but it's more of a question since my MS will likely expire before I finish MP. I'm wondering if I need to have it renewed before or if I can use an expired to get my MP.
It's probably easier to renew your MS qualification and then to finish your MP qualifications.
Just renew your MS qualification.
Although one could make the case that if you are flying on a MP(T) sortie, then you can count that as equiv.
Whatever
Just to verify with you experts if my MS/MO expire together, I can renew my MO without going back to MS correct?
Go into Ops Quals and pull up the MO re-qualification SQTR. If it says have a current MS qualification, then you do. If not, you don't,

I don't see a "Re-Qualification SQTR" if I look at the electronic fillable version, it does NOT say that the MS qualification has to be current.
