Title: ES and flight time
Post by: Darknight87 on October 14, 2018, 02:10:24 PM
I'm thinking about joining my local cap unit and I realized they are at a small airport right outside town. Does that mean I could get more flight time in that unit or is every unit operate the same way I'm tens of having a hard time to find a pilot

You'll have to go out there and meet them and find out...  Every unit is different and the meeting location is not a strong indicator of flight time.

On that note, are you looking to contribute to a lot of ES flying, or are you looking for the most time you can get behind the yoke, period?

There are dozens and dozens, probably a multitude, of CAP squadrons who meet at or near an
airport that have neither an aircraft nor active pilots.

There are also a lot who are at airports with CAP planes, but still have no pilots, and then there
are lots who have pilots, a plane(s), but the aircraft(s) aren't the type rating you would be able to fly.

As said, the only way to find out is visit and ask them.

The majority of CAP is "local", with little consistency between units or even wings other then
the basic framework of the program.
