I am searching for a video on how to sew rank on the ABU collar for senior members.  Any suggestions would be a big help.  Thank you.

I use iron-on sizing or fabric glue, depending on the insignia, but pre-folding and ironing along with the
fabric glue is the way to go.

I have the heavy base from an Ikea lamp that helped me sew dozens of uniforms over the years. Give it time to dry.

Holly has the right idea here but her measurements are off - on the hat she says "1/8 inch", but that's clearly
1/4". On the grade you're measuring from the insignia, not the blue border, and on the nametapes it's whatever
size is required for the tape to be centered and then folded over to meet the pocket edges.

All the measurements are in 39-1.

If you have an operational specialty, pay close attention to how the first one is measured vs. any subsequent ones.

When I do mine I use a sewing ruler so that I have the exact measurement each time. 1/8" from the edge of the insignia to the edge of the border. Mark that with soapstone in at least 2 spots, then fold over and use a steam iron on it. If you don't glue it you can redo it if necessary. Don't ask how I know that, haha. My dad, who was a tailer, taught me all this many years ago also.
All of the measurements are very clear in CAPR 39-1.

My only addition would be to make sure you use a temporary fabric adhesive, it's only meant to hold everything in place while you sew it on the uniform. If you use a permanent spray, hem tape, etc., it will ruin the uniform when you remove the rank when you are promoted.

If you can't find temporary adhesive, fashion tape works quite well but isn't permanent. My wife picked up a role for our wedding several years ago for herself and her bridesmaids, and I've used it for several tapes and patches over the years. It is strong enough to hold everything in place but the adhesive will dissolve when you wash the uniform so it's not permanent.

Large for male, small for female.
(the flat closed end goes to the shoulder, under the epaulet).
