Cool Mace

My friend has some fun with photoshop.

CAP is what you make of it. If you don't put anything in to it, you won't get anything out of it.

This is me as the Chaplain for my father's WWII Reunion group, 13th "Jungle" Air Force Veterans Association.  I was their Chaplain and Membership Manager.  I also did WWII Army Air Forces living history and this is my uniform from that.  I did my dad's unit.  I would wear this uniform with my chaplain's insignia to the hanger dances that we had at the reunions.  The vets loved it.  I had left CAP several years ago and now I am back.  I was a Captain and CO for my Squadron as well as ESO, Historian, GTL / GTM, and Mission Scanner.  I had the training for Mission Observer but left prior to submitting the paperwork for the wings.  Now I am having to start over again.

It's turfed surf, probably not what you're hoping for.

This is me.  The photo of me in uniform was taken while I was stationed on USCGC Eagle.  The Admiral that I am saluting is former USCG Commandant, Admiral Thad Allen.  We were running back down the Potomac River from D.C. to Marine Corps Base Quantico with the Commandant and his party aboard after the 2006 USCG change of command.

Photo 1:  Nice Ahrens-Fox!  But that pressure ball needs some polish.

Photo 2:  Met ADM Allen when he was the D9 CO.  He showed up to STA Belle Isle during the Detroit 300 celebration, we had a security zone set up for three tall ships moored on the river.  Took the time to talk and shake hands with all the POs, nonrates, and even a few lowly auxies.

#1.  I wish the Ahrens-Fox was mine!  It's the property of the Charleston FD, SC.  The photo was taken last summer on a visit.

#2.  ADM Allen is a great and very personable guy.  I was charged with escorting him around the Eagle and giving him a tour, in addition to piping him aboard and ashore.  He asked me quite a bit about my family and I, especially after hearing that we are from the Port Arthur, Texas area, which had been hit very hard by Hurricane Rita (the hurricane that came within a month of Katrina).
