Title: Encampment Staff Position
Post by: SemperVigHooah on March 07, 2019, 08:24:15 PM
Hey, guys, I'm currently applying for the position of Flt Sgt and I kinda used google docs to produce my letter of intent and resume. For my resume, I used the default resume layout to make it, which may have gone against regs on how to make a CAP resume. So, question one:
1. Am I within regs?
2. Will I be considered?
3. Will they notify me if I will be attending selection?

As far as content goes, I think that I did pretty good. I put in 100& and gave it my all. I also didn't know how to get my Squadron Commander to sign my CAPF 31, so I just attached screenshots of the document with the info filled out, but no signatures. Is that okay?

The below is based on general knowledge of the encampment environment you wing may be different.

The best place to ask those other questions is directly of the encampment staff.

You unit CC is required to approve your participation by reviewing and signing the 31.

Take the documents to him, or email them as a pdf, so he can review and sign.
If unit approval is required for selection, then an unsigned 31 won't do you much good.

Not OK. You could have scanned the CAPF 31 using a scanner, email it to him, having him send direct to the activity OIC or send it back to you to finish the process. You are risking the people at the activity to return the application to you, and if you were close to the deadline, missing it since you did not have a complete application.

You're also a Cadet Technical Sergeant, not a Technical Sergeant.

I advise you change your signature to appropriately reflect this, as well as your duty position to "Cadet Recruiting & Retention NCO"

He was advised of this in his earlier posts on this site. He apparently did not take the advice.

Using the defalt layout if fine: chances are they won't care as well as won't even notice. As far as this goes you are not breaking regs, and you will be concidered. However, you MUST have your forms signed by all required people. For the third question; do you mean will they have staff selections? Please clairify that.

Do not exceed ONE page on your resume. That's normally what they ask for. Remember, they have a bunch of resumes and letters to read.

I see the CAP tradition of queeping is alive and well. Well done, y'all.

@OP, formatting may hurt your chances when it comes to consideration, but the part you need to worry about is signature. Style is discretionary when it comes to personnel selection; commander approval is not.
