I seem to remember that Maj Gen TP had mentioned at Spring NB that he'd soon be announcing "exciting new missions" for CAP soon. Am I missing something? I haven't yet heard what the "exciting new mission" was. Border stuff? ...or is the memo still locked in the secret briefcase kept hermetically sealed in the back of the black Maxwell van? Please advise.

My guess he'll announce everything at the NC in 2 weeks.  So be warned, incredible shock and awe to follow shortly after. :o

They're probably just not talking about it.....which would impress me to no end.

As far as shock and awe, I'd bet it'll be a case of people saying: "You gotta be ----ing me!"

Sgt. Savage

He's going to announce that the CAP Spec Ops Squadrons are real.

Why you have not heard??

We will be flying in a tight 90 degree turn over Dodger stadiums home base, using Archer to monitor the operations around home base, using a new 182 glass cockpit as High Bird, since it will be in a TFR during a game we will be working for homeland Security.

see ;D  BASE SECURITY OPERATIONS >:D

No Fair!   For a moment I envisioned CAP members in BDUs checking fencelines at an AFB.

Civil Air Patrol (U.S.) will be tasked to fly all the Interstate freeways in all 50 states plus D.C. to report on traffic conditions to National Public Radio (N.P.R.)  7 days a week.  Than CAP UDF teams with gas cans, jumper cables and push bumpers will be mobilized to aid stranded motorist.

Perhaps we could overfly K-mart parking lots to spot and report on those run away carts.

SUBJECT:   New Mission for Civil Air Patrol

1.   The reputation that Civil Air Patrol is continuing to build with the Air Force has led us to augmentation opportunities with other public service organizations.  I am proud to announce our latest agreement with the Boy Scouts where CAP will provide assistance with one of their traditional activities.  This recognition and camaraderie is a direct result of the hard work and dedication that the entire membership has continued to provide for the last 66 years. Your professionalism and patriotism is paying off.

2.   Assistance to elderly individuals in transiting thoroughfares may now be provided in accordance with the procedures outlined in CAPR 60-3 (EIITT).    The elderly individual in question will first attempt to solicit assistance transiting a thoroughfare from local representatives of the Boy Scouts.  If such representatives are not available, the elderly individual will initiate a request to local law enforcement, who will contact the appropriate state emergency services authority, who will in turn contact the National Operations Center.

3.   The National Operations Center will contact the appropriate Wing alerting officer directly.  This Wing alerting officer will obtain an IC.  IC will utilize standard alerting procedures to assemble ground and air teams, as well as a minimal mission base staff, which must consist of at least a safety officer, paper generation officer, paper shuffling officer, paper filing officer, paper supply officer, three "do it my way, not his" operations directors (all at the same level of seniority), political officer,  information officer, disinformation officer, legal officer, NTIA compliance and radio deactivation officer, Office Depot agency liaison, animal control officer, cruise director, music director, major motion picture director, ground branch director, air branch director, and tree branch deforestation director (who reports to the paper supply officer).

4.   Under Elderly Escort Threat Condition Orange (EETCO), Wing Homeland Security leaders shall immediately mobilize all CAP members and direct them to stand on street corners around the clock in the event that someone requires assistance.  Use of a complicated and dysfunctional scheduling program is recommended to ensure that members are sent to street corners not likely to be frequented by elders in need of assistance.

5.   The complete ground team must be qualified in accordance with CAPR 60-3, and all members must have completed their elderly person assistance rating (requires assisting two old ladies across at least a two lane road under close supervision by a trainer holding an Elderly Assistance Transport Mission rating operating under an Air Force assigned mission number).  In the event that the any member of the assistance team is a cadet, there must be at least two leaders.

6.   The paper generation officer shall prepare CAPF 9 (hold harmless agreement) in triplicate and provide it to the legal officer for review, who will approve it and ensure that it is signed by the elderly individual requesting assistance.  An aircrew will then be assigned to convey this form to the National Operations Center by taking a picture of it and then using SDIS to transmit the picture.

7.   Ground operations section chief shall prepare a complete set of ICS forms (even the esoteric ones that ask for the count of assigned bulldozers) outlining the EIITT Mission for America  effort and will submit them to higher hindquarters at regular intervals (not to exceed every 30 minutes while the operation is in progress).    This requirement is in addition to having everything entered and current in WMIRS while the mission is in progress (current mission costing information must be updated every 5 minutes to reflect the fuel burn of the aircraft that are in the air).

8.   Aircrew will launch and orbit the area to provide radio communications support for the ground team and to detect any vehicles that might be approaching the corner where the old lady is crossing.  If available, an ARCHER crew should be launched to survey the EIITT site so that we can see if ARCHER has any practical application for our newest Mission for America.

9.   After the EIITT Mission for America is complete, all participants must submit their Form 108 for reimbursement within 14 days.

Looks like TP won't be making any announcements soon.  I guess those boy scout missions are on hold for now.   ;D
