Darold W. Weber Jr., 66, of Dover, Delaware, passed away on October 5th, 2023 at Christina Hospital following a medical emergency suffered on September 20th, 2023 while on duty with the Delaware Capitol Police at the New Castle County Courthouse.

Darold was born on August 30th, 1957 to Darold W. Weber Sr. and Phyllis Weber in Claymont, Delaware. After graduating from St. Marks High School in 1975, he went on to study at the Virginia Military Institute and University of Delaware before attending the Delaware State Police academy where he graduated in the 16th Municipal Recruit Class of 1979.

He went on to serve with the Dover Police Department for more than 21 years before retiring in 1999. He continued his law enforcement career as Chief of the Clayton Police Department until 2004, then as Patrol Unit Commander and Operations Division Commander of the Smyrna Police Department until 2006. Taking a brief break from police work to see the country, he became an long-haul truck driver with Snyder National until 2006. He then returned to his life's calling in law enforcement joining the Delaware Capitol Police, where he proudly served until his final day of life.

In 1977, Darold met Jane Reed of Wilmington, Delaware while working at Sears Department Store. They married on May 31st, 1980. They went on to have three children, Jennifer (Jenn), Katherine (Kate), and Darold (Patrick/Pat).

Darold's life was one of service to his community and dedication to his family. Always thinking of others, he started a "Caught Being Good" program and youth basketball league with the Town of Clayton, directed traffic off duty for local organization/events, was the Commander of the First State Young Marines program, coached Little League, and volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol.

He was a loyal, kind, caring, and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, co-worker, and friend. He will best be remembered for his selflessness, his calm and collected demeanor, his sharing of life stories with anyone who would listen, his infinite words of wisdom, his love of Orioles baseball, flying with the Civil Air Patrol, camping, kayaking, and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren (Paul and Sarah).

Darold W. Weber, Jr. was preceded in death by his father Darold W. Weber, Sr and mother Phyllis Weber. Darold is survived by his wife Jane E. Weber, children Jennifer Carey, Katherine Weber, Darold Weber (Lana), grandchildren Paul Reed and Sarah Carey, and siblings Michelle Marusa, Bernadette Papillon (Marc), William Weber (Diane), and Christopher Weber (Sharon).
