Jay Smith, 49, of Foley, MO, passed away on October 1, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1974. Jay was a funny, helpful, and caring individual who touched the lives of many.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Smith, his son Justin Smith,  his brother Matthew Smith and sister in law Gwendolyn and his parents, Janice and Dan. He was also a loving uncle to nieces Katie, Caroline, Kellyn, and Elouise, as well as nephews Henry and Edward. Jay had a close bond with his cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

Jay attended Smith Cotton High School for his education. After completing his studies, he proudly served in the Army from 1992 to 1995. During his military service, Jay excelled as an OH-58 Kiowa Observer, holding the rank of Specialist.

Following his military service, Jay dedicated himself to his career as a Coordinator for Recycle Works at the St. Charles County Government. He was known for his hard work and commitment to the County and creating a more sustainable future.

Outside of his professional life, Jay had a passion for fixing things, swimming and going to the beach. He enjoyed using his skills to repair various items and spending time in the water, particularly snorkeling and piloting a Hobie Cat, and pushing his son and friends into shelves at numerous stores. Jay will be remembered for "Pranks", such as turning lights off on unsuspecting people in bathrooms and barricading their hotel doors with chairs and trash cans. Jay brought a sense of humor to many in places, and would wish his life would be celebrated rather than grieved.
