Anyone else see "Survival School" on the Mojo HD (No relation LOL) channel?

It follows of a class through the Technical Training School for SERE specialists. There have been two episodes thus far, and the next new on is on Tuesday at 9pm.

You can watch the first episode online here: http://www.mojohd.com/mojoseries/survivalschool/

And...in an interesting coincidence, the Commandant of Training at the time this was filmed was SMSgt James Toutges, who is going to be a guest instructor for the FTX I'm planning in a couple weeks down here in the Everglades.  ;D

At first I thought they would post each episode online, but now it doesn't look like they will.  :(

Yeah, I've been checking back every so often to see if they would post more episodes. Really bites that they aren't posting them, the first episode had me really excited.

There have only been two episodes, so, I'll bet they put episode 2 online after episode 3 airs on Tuesday.

Yeah, maybe. I hate it when networks make a delay between when the episode of a show airs and when they post it online. I was at CAP last Tuesday for the season premeir of House, and I've been dying to see it...

OFF TOPIC-  The really crappy thing about that was I DVR'd it and they started it 20 minutes late, so I missed the last 20. Right when House and Wilson started their big talk (you'll know what I'm talking about) and it wont be online till wed!?!?!

Back on topic, they also have several series events on Discovery and TLC about SERE, and the sniper version of SERE.  They both bring some excellent ideas to mind.

I wish we could attend these types of training for real, Maybe we should recruit Bear Grills to teach Survival

I wish they would play that stuff more often. I also really hate they direction the History Channel has been going, they used to have a bunch of really cool military shows, now its all character driven stuff like Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men.. Not very interesting in my book.

As a cadet, my squadron did get to do a dumbed down version of parts of SERE school. We were set up with the SERE instructors at Warner Springs in California. They had us out there for a 3 day weekend, we weren't allowed to bring any food and were only allowed to carry the equipment that a downed aviator would have. We didn't really eat anything that weekend except for a few bugs and some plants that the instructors said were good to eat. It was great training an a ton of fun. We covered land nav, snaring and trapping, water procurement and shelter building. The nights we were there we slept in the shelters we built. At the end of the weekend the instructors brought out a rabbit, we killed it and dressed it and ended the training with rabbit stew. I wasn't brave enough to try the eyeball, but a couple of the cadets did.

They also had a second weekend where they did some of the evasion stuff, unfortunately I wasn't able to attend that weekend. Those that did attend said it was a blast, the instructors spent the first couple days teaching them how to evade and the last day had the cadets evade 'enemy soldiers'.
