The CyBorg is destroyed

While perusing the web site of the Aviation Battalion of the Virginia State Defence Force (and what do they do that VA WG CAP doesn't?) I see a picture of a light civilian aircraft with both civil registry and U.S. military stars and bars.

http://acompany.webng.com/

Why do these Virginians get to have the stars and bars?  They are not part of the U.S. military any more than we are (I would say we are MORESO, if anything)...they are part of their STATE military forces.

Yet we had to remove "USAF AUX" from our aircraft.  I know the purported reasons why but it still doesn't explain why an SDF aircraft can carry U.S. military roundels.

Are they using "generic" stuff?

Whats the term.. since it was designed or whatever with appropriated funds, does the same argument that CAP has over their "brand" (Civil Air Patrol), and the propellers and such when used in a way that implies CAP?

As for the paint job, you see airplanes all over the place with military themed liveries. Some even of legit units.

As for their photo library ..
The car on frame #8, I've got one of these :)

The same reason USA Truck can put it on all of their trucks and trailers, because there is nothing saying they can't.

Critical AOA

It is a privately owned aircraft.  The owner can paint it as he pleases.  I see no problem with it.

+1
I have seen lots of privately owned aircraft with military markings....just go to any air show and see all the vintage planes.

Use weapons, wear subdued nametapes, and pretty much do anything "as its chief executive (or commanding general in the case of the District of Columbia) considers necessary", as authorized by 32 USC § 109, which is further specified in Virgina code § 44-75.1, found here:

http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+44-75.1

Some of which includes state-side combatant operations, should it ever happen, law enforcement if directed to by the governor, etc.

In peacetime, not a whole lot of difference. If the big one drops, their scope expands very rapidly beyond what CAP, Inc. is.
