Seems like a cool tool developed "for cap" I hope it is truly for CAP and NOT just MD Wing... I hope they planned it to be expandable to other wings....

QuoteThe tool was designed specifically for the Civil Air Patrol Maryland Wing.

Though it also says that in future iterations it will link to Google, so maybe it will be able to be used nationwide.

Yeah I saw that... But it also says CAP has a new tool, not MD WING of the CAP has a new tool....

I was hoping my passive comment would show the difference.... I guess I wish people who make things more on the, "this would help everyone" not the this would help me....

CAP is a national organization, not a region or state or squadron org...  Local representation and participation is not its own org....

You also see this when wing & region websites say:  Maj bla bla promoted in the XX Wing or Region....of CAP... does the promotion not count if the person leaves that wing? it makes it seem like XX Wing and YY Wing are 2 different organizations.... Also noticed that this happens often when the person is assigned to the squadron level.... instead of saying BLABLA squadron, wing level will take credit/ownership of the promotion...

frankly, if your promoted, aren't you promoted to X rank in the Civil Air PAtrol... not some squadron/region/wing...?

I know there should be pride in our locations, and we should all compeat to be the best {insert org level] but I really think we forget the big picture more often then not...

after typing all that...i realize that would really be a different thread as its not about the program...

Anyone get to see/demo this tool?

If it was MD Wing that requested it be developed, then MD Wing gets the credit.  Nothing wrong with that.

Never mentioned credit... and no theres nothing wrong with that... but was it made JUST for MD wing or is it expandable to work nationally...

Was it developed for CAP, or for MD WING of the CAP? What I am getting at is that we should look to improve things for ourselves (local) and Others (Nationally).

So it can say developed by MD wing, but they would get more respect/credit/etc if MD wing is just the starting point, not the finishing point...

Can you imagine if SIMS was Just for one squadron/wing.... Thank God he made that program for everyones use....

Maybe Im not being clear... but I tried :)

It is pretty obvious that it is still in development and that they are trying it out in MD.  I suspect that if it works well in actual use that they will promote it within CAP.

Pretty obvious? Okay.... From the post i still cant tell if it is planned to have a start in MD or if it begins and ends in MD @ the same time....  Hopefully they had the foresight to compile it looking to expansion so that it is not limited later... coding with that mindset from the ground up is important...

Can you believe the gatting gun in the F-16 was a after thought? Yes they managed to squeeze one in later but its at the cost of those maintaining the A/C.

I cannot guarantee anything (as I have no privileged info) but from the feeling I got from hearing the wing commander and other top people on the ES side in Md talk about different issues, I believe this will be tested here then if it works well it will be put up for national use.  There is not a feeling here of Maryland Wing not wanting to play well with others.  We already work with other wings regularly.  Our basic encampment is a joint encampment with Delaware and National Capitol wings.  It may take a while to test but if it works well it will probably be widely distributed.

As I recall, Maryland wing pioneered the use of the task guides that we now use in ES, so I'm confident that they are a good test bed for this sort of thing.

Awesome... this is what I was hoping to hear.... I TRY not to make 2 many assumptions which is why I asked... I also figured those watching might start thinking long term/wide spread if they were not already....  Thanks for the info...
