Just bored and was looking over CAP's Awards online and I'm a little confused about the Silver Medal of Valor.
Found a picture of it online that looks like a neck medallion, I thought it was just a full-size chest medal, which is correct?
I also understand that that three sliver stars are worn on the ribbon to differentiate between the Silver and Bronze Medals of Valor in Ribbon form, but what device(s) is worn for second and subsequent awards?
Has anyone ever been awarded more than one Silver Medal of Valor in the history of the award?

The Bronze Medal of Valor was first, created in 1957, and it was simply known as The Medal of Valor until creation of the Silver Medal of Valor in 1960. In order to spare the expense of designing an entirely new ribbon and medal, the silver medal was struck in silver using the same dies as the bronze medal. The same ribbon was used for both with the addition of three silver star attachments on the silver medal's ribbon.

Quick edit - it is NOT worn as a neck award, but leave it to creative people with nothing else to do and the result is an unofficial attempt at making the SMOV similar to the US Medal of Honor.
The McChord Ribbon Checker shows multiples of the Silver Medal of Valor being the wear of separate ribbons for each.
The neck version of this is not official. It was a proposed idea. It will never likely be a thing.
It looks like this. You can't buy them. You can only get one from NHQ/DP. You made me dig into our curio cabinet of our CAP stuff.... :-P
You'd just add 3 stars to make the ribbon a Silver.

Here are CAP's full sized medals. They are generally only worn at the time of presentation. The Silver Medal of Valor has a silver medallion as well as the three silver stars across the ribbon portion. The Distinguished Service Medal is the older style. The Falcon Award is no longer presented.
The second photo shows a medallion comparison of the old & new DSM Medals. These are miniature medals. I do not have a full sized new DSM.

wow... I've never actually seen full-sized CAP medals (although word of mouth always said they existed).
It's interesting to finally see an example of them.

If you look in the regulation, you'll actually see images of them.

Yes, two people have.
Jerry Alsum (from Colorado) and Robert Wallace (from California) are the only CAP members to have been awarded the SMOV twice.
