Congrats, 2d Lt! It takes a bit of getting used to the fact that cadets now stand when you enter a room.

BF's comments notwithstanding, I feel it never goes away. But the problem is, letting it get into your head...

Congrats 2LT!

Now, is 2LT the proper abbreviation to use? Or would it be 2d Lt? ???

Look it up and see.

Depends on your branch and you're missing a letter in one of them  ::)

I thought this was a CAP promotion and CAP uses the same abbreviations as the USAF.
What letter is missing, exactly?

Go check the AFI, the Air Force, for whatever reason dropped the "n".

It's been 2d Lt in CAP for a long time, but they can't make up their minds, either. It's 2Lt on the 1984 version of the F2.

I always use 1LT or 2LT

Well, for CAP use, you would be incorrect.  8)

That's the Army way of doing it. The Air Force has their way and CAP has their way.

If you're doing CAP stuff, then follow the CAP rules. Simple.
