Ok now we all know it takes forever for Vanguard to ship, but up until now I've never had any troubles.  But how long does it take to process an order?  I mean c'mon check to see you've got all the items, charge the credit card.  That's kinda simple.  I placed an order two days ago and they're still processing it!  Has anyone else had the issue of how long it takes to process one simple order?

I mean all I'm ordering are some SQTR's and the new command patch.  This isn't Rocket Science.

1. Why are you ordering SQTR's? You can print them yourself, or better yet make the people who need them log on to eServices and print it off.

2. Yea it takes them a while to process, especially if it is something they don't have in stock. I ordered 10 pair of 2d Lt BDU insignia on the 5th of last month and they were just shipped yesterday. Supposedly they just came in on Friday, explains why things aren't always in stock: they are out sourcing.

I'm ordering the SQTR's so they're in the easiest format to carry with Field Gear.  Trust me as I've learned this, the "actual size" which is the green book cover of the SQTR for Ground Team Personnel is made that size for a reason it's easy to carry in the gear.  I actually had a cadet who lost it and reprinted his on 8.5" x 11" and has regretted it.  He complains that it's hard to carry that and the rest of his gear.  Also either way you print the SQTR not all places have the right type of stapler that can get through that sort of thickness.  So you need to use binder clips if you want them to stay organized in anyway shape or form and that will take up a little bit of space that could be used for something else.

I placed an order with Vanguard on 03/03/2008 for about a dozen items. I ordered a new nameplate as well and wanted the order shipped complete.

It is now the 13 and I called them to ask why it hasnt ordered and they said they did not have the name plates in stock and that I wanted the order shipped complete. I told her to go ahead and cancel the name plate and ship the rest. She then told me that the name plate had allready been done and they couldnt cancel the order. I asked her why she just told me that they didnt have the name plates and that was why it was late and when I cancel the item she now has them. She siad she was going to expedite the order and have it shipped today. 10 days they had and they are just now sending..

One thing I've learned is never to order online with Vanguard. They don't process the credit card for several days, and it's done manually. If you order on the phone, they can process it right then. Greatly speeds up the process.

They *really* need to get some real-time online CC processing.

Go figure I start a thread to [censored] and moan and then they ship it within 5 minutes.  They must have spies watching us.  :P

My orders were processed in about 5 to 8 business days on average which is far longer than what I've expected.

By the way... SQTRs aren't the same as ES Specialty Guides and please don't confuse them. The guides are textbooks that tell you how to do tasks. SQTRs are sign-off documents. SQTRs can't be purchased through Vanguard. They can only be printed from e-services. Guide books can be printed from NHQ in 8.5x11 format or purchased. If you get the handbook (guide) signed they won't let you go on any mission.

Sorry for some reason I keep on saying SQTR when I mean Guide Book.

One time I ordered a AF Blue shirt, waited a month and had to cancel it before they would ship it.  Thats about business as usual.

I think the majority of orders I've ever made from Vanguard show "processing" until two days after I get them. Doesn't make any sense to me, but I pretty much order and wait.

I'm 6 for 6 on my Vanguard orders. All have been mailed in on a typed paper order form, and all were filled within 14 days, except the two back orders, which were filled in the next 10 days.

I've actually placed an order with them before, only to log on, see it is still pending, then have UPS pull up to the house to deliver it.

Hey... does that mean they haven't charged your card? Actually, don't answer that. I already know they did. They charged my card for backordered items and were surprised when I asked them to refund it to me.
