Anyone know whats taking them so long to get some minutes from the Dec BoG up? Usually takes about a month, but its getting to be a little bit late (IMO). After all, we've got full-time staff to type this stuff up.
Didn't you complain about this on the last one. Who cares, it'll post when it posts. I'm sure it's nothing you hadn't heard about already. Anything of real interest would have been done informally or in private session.
I'm with you, RiverAux, don't know why this takes so long to get online....also, why there was no agenda posted previously....we could really use a bit more transparency.
Speaking of which, winter meeting of NB is approaching, there is their draft agenda?
Maybe I did complain (don't remember), but even if I did, the complaint is still justified....

I agree. In my real job (aka: they pay me, unlike CAP) one of my side duties is as a staff member for the foundation board of directors. After their meetings, the minutes are typed up, reviewed, and sent out within days. When you have full-time staff, even if the board isn't their main focus, there is a higher expectation.
I think well over a month is more than enough time to reasonably type-up and review a set of meeting minutes. It's just another informative tool for the membership. I don't see why it should be a big deal in getting them out.

Got a laugh out of that "Special Operations Squadron". Of course posting what missions you fly in support of the DEA and so on probably does violate some OPSEC principles. They of course place a disclaimer that the information was 'screened'. I digress though...
NHQ has a duty to post the minutes to their board meetings in a timely manner. This eliminates the impression that they are trying to hide something and reduces the speculation factor that is rampant in CAP. When NHQ fails to do this simple task they do nothing but foster the distrust and suspicion of the motives of the 'leadership' of CAP by the general membership.

BTW...that squadron does not exist at least not In Calif Wing......but if you read it it is pretty good tongue in cheek.
It sounds like a dream of what we could be if we were really tasked by the AF instead of a "find the lost kitty cat" organization some wish us to be.

Do not worry about the white van from Maxwell. They are just looking for several lost, missing or replaced Wing Commanders. It's the black van you need to worry about.

:'( Well, the March National Board is starting and the minutes from the December Board of Governors Meeting have yet to be posted. I sort of hope the NB has actually seen these things since what the BoG decides is sort of important to the NB....

I've seen this on this forum a while ago I think back in 2005. Someone really had a lot of time on their hands.
Interestingly I found that the CAP Constitution requires that BoG meeting minutes must be given to the members within 30 days of the meeting. However, they don't approve them until the next BoG. So it is POSSIBLE that they're waiting for final approval before posting the minutes. However, they regularly have posted draft minutes from the other bodies so I doubt it. If they haven't posted them because of their draft status, that is bogus. Can't expect the membership to wait that long to see what official actions have been taken.

Well, the Dec 2006 BoG minutes have finally been posted.
Some interesting tidbits:
1. There was discussion of background check procedures for potential Wing and Region Commanders.
2. Asking for 6500 hours of flying for AF Operation Noble Eagle.
3. Asking to increased funded flight training for mission pilots from 5 to 10 hours per year.
4. Increased funding for a "Missionized" NOC. I'm pretty sure that isn't a word.
5. A very interesting discussion over AF concerns about checks and balances within CAP.

That's good, because I'm not interested in breaking the honor code to get the information.
Actually the Board of Governors minutes fall under the Public Records law since members are appointed by the Secretary of the Air Force. And the Board is authorized to make recommendation to the Secretary. Since CAP gets federal funding, much of the meetings of the NEC, NB is covered by the Freedom of Information Act. Members can get the information on eServices, but the general public has to make the request for the information.

I was with you in thinking that it wasn't. So I checked www.dictionary.com. Turns out it's currently accepted as a word, but it refers to doing missionary work. So, it would seem that someone's misused the word.
Heck, prioritize wasn't originally a word either. But try getting by one day in government service without using or hearing it.
And before all the fellow logophiles jump in to make the point, recall that dictionaries also don't establish the propriety of a word, they merely report how it's spelled, and reflect how it's found to have been used in general society at the time of its writing. If a word is misused enough, that definition will also eventually be reflected in a dictionary somewhere, so that one might understand what's been said, no matter how incorrect it may be..

Yep.. I used to have a dictionary at had that phrased it even stronger than that. It said "it's usage should be discouraged by those who do not wish to be considered illiterate..." Gotta luvit! ;D
