Cadet Airman Eric M. Fonder
Elko Composite Squadron
Nevada Wing

June 5, 2001 – June 19, 2018

Eric went to his heavenly home June 19, 2018. Eric was born to Kim and Melissa Fonder in Creston, IA on June 5, 2001. He moved to Elko, NV with his parents and older sister Emily in 2005; and for the past thirteen years has been a shining light in this community. He was entering his senior year at Elko High School, where he played the saxophone in band and jazz band. He was also an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, member of the youth group, and taught VBS.
Eric loves Jesus, and the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) poured out of his life, especially love, joy, and kindness. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church and confirmed at First Presbyterian. He loved God's Word, fellowshipping with his peers, and serving others. Eric had a full life with many interests. He loved making people smile, often using puns and silly dances. He loved playing games, both table-top role-playing and video. He enjoyed riding his bike, nerf wars, playing the saxophone, martial arts, animals, and earned the Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts. He took his first flight with Civil Air Patrol this spring and began working as a handyman at First Presbyterian this summer. He was a loyal friend and beloved person.
Eric is survived by his parents, Kim and Melissa; his siblings Emily and Creedence (Omaha, NE); his grandparents Kim Sr. and Tamra Fonder (Wakpala, SD), Janet Fonder (Rapid City, SD), Ethane and Donna Reed (Rapid City, SD), and Harlow and Diane Anderson (Lead, SD); and many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and friends.
