I once stood next to a Lance Corporal reenlisting on the ramp of a KC-130J in flight over the desert, whereupon his old nametag went over the side. I've seen people reenlist in all kinds of situations with all kinds of oddball gimmicks - at their request, since THEY are the ones stepping forward, and putting themselves (potentially) in harms way.
I just don't think its my place to judge, on this.

The act was silly, not IMHO worthy of ending careers, but the recording and
publishing shows a lack of judgement that probably is.
There are many traditions and silliness which go on between like-minded comrades,
behind closed doors for a reason, and it seems that people simply no longer understand that simple fact.
There are also far too many people whose only daily goal is outrage, which again is why
anyone active on Facebook probably needs to reconsider their life choices.

Actually, the Air Force did not move quickly, but the Tennessee Air National Guard did.
All the folks involved were full time employees of the TN ANG.

Yes you are correct of course. In my mind I was thinking "the powers that be" moved quickly. And thats the point here, and the lesson to be learned. ;)
There's plenty of precedent for "creative" reenlistment ceremonies. People have done it underwater (in a ceremony that was publicized by the Navy, no less) and in costume before.
This one in particular got picked up by a Facebook page, that feeds on "Veteran Outrage Syndrome" to satisfy the admin's need for attention, an Internet lynch mob formed, and the rest is history.

only way to "win" Facebook and other social media, is not to play.

There is a difference between swearing an oath to support and defend the Constitution and initiating a pollywog into the Kingdom of Neptune. A rather significant difference. Was this whole things in bad taste? Depends on who you ask, it seems like. apparently, Tennessee's TAG didn't find it funny.

I wouldn't disagree, but you have to know your audience, and also the times, which lends itself back to this
just being a dumb mistake, but the consequences got higher because of poor decision making.
The comment was that this was "done for her kids" - fine. Use your own phone and show it to your kids,
instead of posting places outside your control.
